Maybe some people are just switching over to DVD from VHS. Once in a long while I do see older adults those that MIGHT be from 65-72 age area doing that in stores. Also maybe they don't have their mid 20s-early 30s kids living with them any more. Because their kids would sure tell them to do that and not wait. There also that of understaning what is Plasma, LCD, LED, edge lit LED LCD 1080p, 720p, HDMI, DTS, Dolby True HD, AV receiver, subwoofer and so on. But as for young adults those in their mid 20s-early 30s, that is no excuse. Unless they really don't understand new technology and how to use them at all.

I know that two of the libraries in my neighborhood don't have Blu-rays at all for people to borrow. They still have DVD only on new and old stuff, don't know about the main library of the city, have not gone there for a while.

And that's why they're always depressed and sad. They don't know how to take advantage of all the wonderful things out there.

I'd been putting off getting this for some bizarre reason. Not sure why, as I'm quite fond of the film. I'm wasn't liking the look of the re-release (I don't like that Blu-ray+DVD banner, and I like the cover image better on the original). So, luckily, I was able to track down the original release at Booksamillion yesterday. Glad to finally have it in my collection, and was able to give my Home Theater a nice workout with it today. It's got me all pumped up to see Skyfall now when it comes out next month.

Just wondering how much did you get it for at Booksamillion. Since they only sell new and not used stuff. We don't any Booksamillion here in California, also none in the Pacific Northwest and the Southwest. I got my used copy at a local mom and pop chain new and used DVD/CD store. The nearest book store for us in San Francisco would be a Barnes and Noble in the near by countary of San Bruno. The near by Best Buys and Targets don't have them anymore.

For me I don't mine the Blu-ray/DVD combo. It just that I have the 2-disc DVD already. Plus everyone saying the rerelease is the same, like the special features and the menu screen design. I just didn't want to pay the rerelease sale price. Back then I still saw the Blu-ray sale and reg. price as kind of too much. Even it was when I first got my HDTV and Blu-ray player not too long. It was not till early fall of that year I started slowly started buying Blu-rays.

I think I'm gonna hold off on that re-release until I see if it has a slip cover or not. I can't tell you how much it bugs me having a slipcover for Casino Royale and not having one for Quantum of Solace.

There's still many people who don't even have HDTV's, either. Hence the converter box to allow them to play HIDef signals on their analog TV. Some people just can't afford it, especially in this economy.

What does the economy have to do with any of this?

There's only one thing about the prospect of Skyfall being terrific that annoys -- the fact that all of the reviews are going to say some crap like "after the disappointment of Quantum of Solace, Skyfall is an impressive return to form." What nonsense.

Quantum of Solace is a terrific Bond film -- it sports a lightning pace, a very good score, more intelligence than it needs, and some terrific action. The last five minutes of it are a model of restraint, and a Fleming fan's wet dream. I'd take it over any of the Moore or Brosnan films in a heartbeat.

I realize this could have been asked before, but wasn't there a special collector's edition of QoS in the works? I realize there was the original release on Blu-ray that suddenly became hard to find, but I thought that a more elaborate edition was being prepped, however never came out.

I enjoyed the film, not as much as Casino Royale, but nevertheless I would pick it up. Just unsure if I should get this new reissue that comes out tomorrow or wait for a possibly newer version down the road, but at the same time, I would have thought they would have released that to coincide with Skyfall's theatrical release.

I was thinking the same thing. Im kind of convinced though that this is it for QoS for awhile at least with the Bond 50 set coming out and all

I guess I should have picked up the original release but at least it's being re-issued and with Skyfall movie money which helps. Perhaps the studio didn't want to put forth the resources and money into a collector's edition of QoS so this could in fact be in the only release we see.

Yes, or what JSB can do is just buy the old release for a low price. Then when the re-release is out, buy it, remove the slipcover and return it without the slipcover. The store will take it back since the shrink-wrap and barcode are on the case, not the slipcover.

Free slipcover.....Problem solved.

"Quantum of Solace" was for me the worst film in the Bond franchise. Sorry. Boring, unexciting with a joke of a villain and an even more ridiculous and unremarkable story.

A view to a kill was worse but quantum was very close. It was like the Roger Moore style came back mixed with Bourne and all the humor removed. It was badly edited and the director (who did the fabulous Kite Runner) complained that he didn't have as much editing time (1 year) that Christopher Nolan had for The Dark Knight.

I watched this in the theatre and by the halfway mark I was deflated.

as I recently rewatched QoS, its a bit underwhelming compared to Royale. but the action scenes are really well staged and shot. with the acception of the opening car chase which drives me nuts and makes me dizzy. still, a pretty good movie in my book.
