This morning I notice the IBC media folks finally posted the 4K panel online, see – http://www.ibc-tv.org/cgi-bin/video_...0Friday%201400 P.S. b.t.w., when the discussion turned to standards and in particular with regards to master delivery and the acronym ‘IMF’, for a bit of background, refer to (from last month)…https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ce#post9642155 Last edited by Penton-Man; 09-17-2014 at 05:21 PM. Given that sight is so important and extremely technologically interesting to me, I often visit a local cutting edge Eye Institute, namely the USC Eye Institute whose team took a leading role in developing a historical dream come true (Ive fixed an expired national news link as well as adding a GMA link, as it prefaces as to what Hollywood has been thinking of for decades - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ye#post8013727
However, while in Amsterdam, I would have liked to have visited their renowned Eye Film Institute Netherlands - https://www.eyefilm.nl/en but, as our time was limited and we had so much to do, my wife and I just couldnt fit it into our schedule. So, as a heads-up to our Dutch membership (and I know we have at least a couple members), if. as locals, youve never visited the Eye Institute and if youre into 3D and HFR and would like to see a theatrical presentation other than Peter Jacksons forays into this non-traditional cinematic realm, youve got a few chances left to view a feature motion picture shot and exhibited at 50fps 3D at that beautiful Eye venue - https://www.eyefilm.nl/en/movies-and...am_id=11669357 |

I didn't know Sky were using Mistikas, very nice. But are they a holdover from Sky's abortive dalliance with 3D and they're making the best out of a bad situation by gearing them up for 4K with new monitors, or are they new acquisitions? Doesn't really matter I suppose. |

Sure, but have you seen any 3D games being offered for the new EPL season, for example? I think the channel itself will continue for some time simply because of the ongoing support for 3D movies, but for live content it's all but dead, hence the 4K overhaul of their live production chain. |

For lovers of the union of film acquisition and film presentation (rather than digital), in regards to this news…http://www.interstellar-movie.com/news/2378
I really do not think that ‘two days’ is good enough. A full week ahead of DCP presentation would probably gain much more traction among theater owner/operators. Sap, I wish you well in finding a local theater which will show the 35mm version. Let us know if you’re successful. P.S. In regards to ‘unions’, reminds me of something else. Several moments while I search for some illustrative links and tie up a loose end from IBC. Last edited by Penton-Man; 09-19-2014 at 05:34 PM. Reason: added a P.S. |

Now that's 4K footage worth seeing. With the announcement of 4K BD, I should imagine that 4K porn won't be far behind, so to speak. (I know there's stuff out there to download but have you seen how big they are? The file sizes, I mean.)
