I have a weekend of Prem league matches to catch up on (including your Sunderland boys vs. Spurs), plus todays Arsenal competition in the Champions League, so please no hints. Also looking to see if Scotland stays or leaves the U.K. Interesting situation over there across the pond.
Yeah, Sky are spot on coverage wise( although, IMO, a bit over the top at times)

Enjoy your football.

However, while in Amsterdam, I would have liked to have visited their renowned Eye Film Institute Netherlands - https://www.eyefilm.nl/en but, as our time was limited and we had so much to do, my wife and I just couldnt fit it into our schedule.

So, as a heads-up to our Dutch membership (and I know we have at least a couple members), if. as locals, youve never visited the Eye Institute and if youre into 3D and HFR and would like to see a theatrical presentation other than Peter Jacksons forays into this non-traditional cinematic realm, youve got a few chances left to view a feature motion picture shot and exhibited at 50fps 3D at that beautiful Eye venue - https://www.eyefilm.nl/en/movies-and...am_id=11669357

I didn't know Sky were using Mistikas, very nice. But are they a holdover from Sky's abortive dalliance with 3D and they're making the best out of a bad situation by gearing them up for 4K with new monitors, or are they new acquisitions? Doesn't really matter I suppose.

Just had a look at SGO's website, answered my own question: the Mistikas were indeed part of their big outlay on 3D, and Sky has overhauled them for working on 4K. Nice.

Quite correct, Sky’s had Mistika capability for awhile with SGO recently announcing upgrades to Sky’s post production Mistika suite(s). I stopped by SGO’s booth for a look-see while at IBC where they had Mistika demo showing UHD footage @ 60fps as well as 6K Sony F65 and 6K Red Dragon footage. Quite impressive speed for running off just a desktop.

As for the Sky upgrade to the Canon 4K BT.2020 supportive reference monitors, word is they bought three of them, so dem Sony reps had better start hustling the Sony monitor YouTubed here - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...on#post9732007

Or, for those who prefer spec porn in written form…http://www.sony.co.uk/pro/product/br...specifications

Sky still cover 3D pretty well Geoff, they have a dedicated channel. I use it often.

Sure, but have you seen any 3D games being offered for the new EPL season, for example? I think the channel itself will continue for some time simply because of the ongoing support for 3D movies, but for live content it's all but dead, hence the 4K overhaul of their live production chain.

That's true. Although I love 3D, I am not too concerned about sport in 3D anyway. I guess we should lookout for Sky holographic coverage next decade!

I really do not think that ‘two days’ is good enough. A full week ahead of DCP presentation would probably gain much more traction among theater owner/operators. Sap, I wish you well in finding a local theater which will show the 35mm version. Let us know if you’re successful.

P.S.
In regards to ‘unions’, reminds me of something else. Several moments while I search for some illustrative links and tie up a loose end from IBC.

Now that's 4K footage worth seeing. With the announcement of 4K BD, I should imagine that 4K porn won't be far behind, so to speak. (I know there's stuff out there to download but have you seen how big they are? The file sizes, I mean.)

However, some see last paragraph at IBC presented a negative to using a perceptual quantizer (a la Dolby) transfer function along with the traditional color signal transport method of Y'CbCr and 4:2:0 chroma subsampling as it is believed said union will needlessly degrade the image.

So, on that note of color and HDR EOTF having the perfect coupling with an early marriage

Some at IBC advise first some premarital improvement (in counseling such as SMPTE 10E committee) by use of a different color signal transport (namely, Y"u'v' ) in order for both color and HDR to have the best possible look.
Sounds good. You are right; I should just sit back and enjoy the 4KBD train.
