Frankly, I don't care about the release. I just think it's funny that people complain about spending $100+ on movies(as it is taking food out of their mouth) even though they are getting something for free. I think it's the scalpers that are whining about buying 6 titles, as that cuts into their profits when they try to unload the autographed copy....

The autograph really don't add much resale value to the disc. Maybe a little more for the Blob since it's sold out, but to have to buy 5-6 titles that they would have to unload at below cost (and then subtract fees from that) it doesn't sound that appealing from a selling standpoint. But I do get what you are saying.

When the original FRIGHT NIGHT went OOP three years ago, prices on the bay were in the $60-80 range for a long while. It finally creeped up over $100 after about a year, and then it was close to 2 years before it was well over $300. Not saying THE BLOB will reach those heights, I doubt it will, but the initial saturation of the market always happens and prices will remain stagnant for a while yet..

Even with the free item, 7 titles for around $190 is around $27 per title, doesn't seem like such a deal for me.

I need another title to get over 150. Would you guys pick The Vanishing or Killer Elite?

Thanks,
Tom

One of those titles is a director signed copy of a sold out title. If someone didn't really care about that title, they could sell it for $200 or more easily and get 6 titles for free and make money on top of it.

It's actually been updated to $149.75 if that helps.

I highly doubt that someone could get that much for an autographed copy. Non-autographed copies aren't even selling for $50-$60 on Ebay right now.

The only way I'm tempted here is I don't want something I actually do want to sell out as a result of all the people trying to score the deal. I guess there are considerably more than a hundred left of say, "Leave Her to Heaven" so I'm probably OK. Hope the next autograph isn't something I already have

what's the issue?

If you have 5 titles you want, then for the same price you can now possibly get a bonus OOP title, which you can flog or keep but otherwise wouldnt have got if the promo wasnt there.

If you flog it for $50 even, then you have effectively got the 5 titles you wanted for $100, which is a pretty good deal. If you wanted The Blob but missed out, well now you can try to get it for no extra cost to the 5 titles you already wanted.

If you dont have 5 titles you want at the moment, wait for the next promo or the one after that?

If you wanted The Blob but missed out and dont have 5 titles you want to buy to get it, get it off ebay for $50.

What am I missing?

I am a big fan of The Killer Elite. It's not a masterpiece, but it's good, dumb fun with a little bit of everything thrown into the pot, including ninja assassins. Don't get bogged down in the plot, there really isn't much of one, and just grab some popcorn and enjoy the show. Caan and Duvall are great, as are Burt Young and Bo Hopkins. A great Saturday afternoon movie. It also includes the teleplay Noon Wine, which was never released on DVD.

So does this mean from here on out the promos will only be gotten if you spend over 150 bucks (used to be over 100) on TT product or is this a special case since it's a sell out they're giving away here?

Another vote for Killer Elite.

If you want to watch The Vanishing on Blu, watch the original... which is far superior and cheaper.

Anyway, I missed out on The Blob so I'm really hoping to score one of these today. Had Our Man Flint in the cart and I got worried it would sell out making me miss two releases at once if I didn't get it, so I ordered it earlier today. But then I couldn't figure out what to replace it with because I really only want four other TT movies badly enough to pay $30 lol, wish I had just taken that chance. Eventually narrowed it down to La Bamba and The Killer Elite though, mainly for Noon Wine which has me really interested. I'll probably go with La Bamba and wait on Killer Elite in case they get John Boorman for a signed Zardoz run.

Now that you've secured your copy of Our Man Flint, you can order another copy with the promo order, then just e-mail Screen Archives and ask them to cancel your "solo" order.
