Nice haul! (Mine came today as well with three of the same titles - The Blob, Breaking Away, and Leave Her to Heaven. A fourth - Inherit the Wind - is with another order that hasn't shipped yet.)

What are your two players?

Well, to add to the previous crap I mentioned with regard to them apparently changing the rules midstream...as I said earlier, I told them I wanted to cancel my order. The reply I got to that request is that they are unable to cancel orders. What I will end up having to do is wait for the shipment to arrive, and then take the package down to the USPS (or local UPS depot), and have them return to sender. When they get the package back, they'll refund the charge. Which means I'll have to get some sort of confirmation from the carrier that I sent it back, in case it gets lost on the way to them. And I'll have to do this twice, since one of the discs I ordered is on back-order.

This makes their business practice (in this regard) even more nonsensical. They don't lose money cancelling an order, beyond not making the sale. Requiring the customer to return to sender means that they have to pay the shipping costs in addition to ultimately not making the sale. The cynical part of me suspects that they're hoping the customer will relent and decide to keep the merchandise once it's in hand. Well, screw them.

Whether any of this is unethical...well, I'd say that changing the rules midstream is at the very least borderline unethical.

Sleazy, yes. Lunatic, no.
well I just got a shipping confirmation e-mail with a tracking code.... maybe I'll get them after all.....

This reminds me of something a friend told me about. It seems a local men's clothing store was having a promotion -- buy a pair of pants, get a free shirt. He purchased the pants, got the free shirt, then promptly turned around and went to return the pants, but not the shirt, for a refund. When the store clerk objected, the friend said "it's not my fault if your sale is broken."

My point is, TCM should have handled it differently, perhaps giving you the credit up front and not put the onus on you, the customer, to fix their mistake. I've done business with them in the past and had no problems, but these kinds of stories make me leery of doing business with them in the future.

I've done business with them before, as well, with no problems. Even (twice) gotten TT titles at 30% off. That's what makes this particular experience so frustrating.

I figure that I'm done ordering from them, except possibly when (if) they release more exclusive BDs. As you've pointed out earlier, their "deals" aren't really even that special.

Well I ordered ONLY ANGELS HAVE WINGS from TCM in December last year and though the disc was $29.99 (which would incur customs fees) I used one of their codes which reduced shipping to $4.99 to the UK. Even with the inevitable customs fee, this was a price I would pay, as opposed to the usual postage which is about the same cost as the disc, meaning that it would normally cost me about $70 delivered.

Mid-January it still hadn't shipped so I sent them an e-mail. Couple of days later I got an e-mail saying they'd pass it along to someone who'd look into it. Couple of days later I get a cancellation notice. Couple of days later I get an APOLOGY for the cancellation, telling me that they can't now reinstate the order but I'm welcome to order it again; without, of course, the discount.

Obviously they just didn't want to give me the disc at that price. I'd rather they'd just said it was a misprice than give me the whole runaround. They're a crappy company and I can only hope they don't get any more exclusives. Hopefully, Mill Creek will also get ANGELS.

But TCM? W***ers.

The shipping label was made on the 17th but it was only sent today which means I should have Fright Night and the other 3 new releases on Thursday (I hope)!

Are others still waiting for Fright Night to ship ? Mine was ordered along with some other TT films to be send to UK, which usually means I am bottom of the pile for shipment.

Last time I chased on an order got an extremely rude email back saying we will ship your order when we feel like it, but in more colourful language. That one did finally ship but it seemed a few weeks after everyone who posted here.

I'm still waiting and I ordered within 15 mins of it going 'live' on their site. Ordered 'FN' along with 'The Bride Wore Black' & 'The Purple Rose of Cairo'. My order shows as 'pending'. I think they'll ship by the weekend, but then there's the on-average 10 days to arrive here in the UK.

A little patience is required when ordering from SAE!
