I have considered buying the Spanish release, but have concerns that it may be a BD-R like many of Resen's discs. I'm not sure if anyone knows for sure on that.
Mysterious Island would be a great title to re-release, it took 9 months to sell out, but TT was still new and it was originally $34.99, I think it would sell much quicker this time around, I was lucky to get the first release, and it's one of my favorite Harryhausen films.

I also hope TT rereleases MYSTERIOUS ISLAND.
I already have it on dvd, but the Bluray reviews were good, and it's one of the better-written movies using Harryhausen creatures.

I hope the unreleased Harryhausen titles, "The Three Worlds of Gulliver" and "One Million Years B.C.," which TT has access to, are released before a title is double dipped!

Is First Men on the Moon any good? Where would one rank it in regards to other Harryhausen or sci-fi films of the time?

I agree, and I think One Million Years B.C. would sell out in one day

I think it's good, but I like all Harryhausen films, but I'd rank it in the top 5.

It is somewhere in the middle of his body of work. Not great, but not horrible either.

It's a little on the boring side, until they get to the moon. It has awesome stop motion, but it's not the best.

My favorites are Mysterious Island, Earth Vs The Flying Saucers, Twenty Million Miles To Earth, the Sinbad movies and Clash of the Titans.

Nope. They stopped doing promos on the same day that pre-orders go live. The next promo probably won't be for a few more weeks.

I disagree. I think the first half of the film is very entertaining - sure, it's not monsters and fantasy yet, but it builds the characters, just as MYSTERIOUS ISLAND does with the prison and balloon escape prior to getting to the island.

If I had to pick a "boring" Harryhausen, it would be Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers. I don't quite get why people like that one as it's totally leaden for me, outside of Harryhausen's effects, of course.

I'd place First Men in the Moon squarely in the middle of the Harryhausen titles. 1-15 I love them all so there's not much difference between 1 and 15. My top two are The Valley of Gwangi and The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms. The great thing is everyone has a different favorite Harryhausen movie which goes to show how awesome his movies have been. Can't wait for next Wednesday for sure. Ten down, five to go

My favorite Harryhausen movies (in no particular order):

20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH
EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS
IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA
THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS
MYSTERIOUS ISLAND
JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS
FIRST MEN IN THE MOON

My top five favorite Harryhausen movies:

Jason and the Argonauts (my favorite, by far)
The Valley of Gwangi (my first Harryhausen, watched as a kid in a theater Saturday matinee in the mid-1970s)
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad
The Golden Voyage of Sinbad
Mysterious Island

The good thing is that I haven't seen them all yet and still have some to discover. Like First Men in the Moon....somehow missed that one. Also, some I saw on local TV late night monster shows when I was a kid and have since forgotten and need to watch again, so more discovery waiting there too (like 20 Million Miles to Earth, I bought the Blu-ray recently and will be watching it soon.....late at night, just like when I was a wee lad)

Don't hold your breath. My copy of Love and Death has been stuck in a Virginia post office for a week and still is listed as delayed. I know it's snowing badly there but are there no planes flying?

One negative about FIRST MEN IN THE MOON is that Harryhausen's creatures show up late in the movie----his other movies have his creatures throughout the movies.

FYI, early in January I added a low quantity update to the first post which I will keep updated as the new numbers are announced by TT. The numbers are current as of the date shown in the update.

Picnic is a surprise since I don't recall SAE sending out a 500 alert and it is now at less than 300.
