Bite the Bullet and Pal Joey are very good, among the best TT has to offer. Rapture is a giant that stands tall above just about every film TT has released. I bought it blind over three years ago and was blown away. If you like Bergman or Hitchcock, you will like Rapture. It slowly sets up what seems to be an emotionally isolated character for a psychological explosion, teetering on the edge of a horror film without actually being one. Rapture builds taut suspense because the viewer is never quite sure what is going to happen as the story unfolds.

Seriously, it is a great drama, filled with excellent performances and stunning black and white cinematography that emphasizes the dark neo-gothic atmosphere of the story. Patricia Gozzi gives what surely must be one of the finest performances by a young star in the history of cinema in her portrayal of the troubled and fragile teenage girl Agnes. Like a living version of the childhood doll she still cherishes, Agnes is easily torn and shattered if handled carelessly. The plot takes off when an injured escaped convict makes his way to her father's house and dons the ragged clothes of a scarecrow Agnes had made earlier and placed in the fields. Agnes becomes infatuated with the handsome man who shows up out of the night, as if her scarecrow has come to life. She vows to nurse him back to health and look after him. From there, events spin toward the film's powerfully moving climax. Rapture is simply magnificent; there is so much depth to the story captured with sensitive direction by director John Guillermin, as we realize in the end that a lonely teenage girl is not the only broken doll in the playpen.
These films may very well be as good as you say. Except Pal Joey which I didn't like at all. Musicals are very low on my genre list. But, I was referring to the TT titles I wondered may be close to selling out. Rapture is a 2011 release and it's not close to being sold out? It may be a great film, but it's not very popular.

I'm trying to fill out my order for Wednesday with a film I like or may like that happens to be close to selling out. I wasn't trying to dismiss any of the films you and I mentioned. I'm hesitant at blind buys, especially at $30 a pop. I've haven't seen The Bounty which I find kind of odd. I don't know why I never got around to watching it. So I'm probably going to go with that. I know it's a 2015 release so it's not close to being sold out. I guess I will have to stick with The Blue Max, which is a wonderful film. Another one of my DVD's bites the dust.

Well, I'm glad I sold off my extra copy of Golden Voyage before now :P If they manage to get those commentaries Harryhausen recorded shortly before he died I might have to buy that too.

It's a sad fact that musicals on Twilight Time generally sell so slowly. To me their entertainment value and replay value are huge

TT posted this on their Facebook in response to a question about low quantity titles.

Quote:
The Blue Max, Sleepless in Seattle, Used Cars, and Thunderbirds Are Go - these are the titles that are dwindling now...and In Like Flint.
These are the same titles in the first post of this thread, no numbers update at this point except that the counts shown there are dwindling down.

The first thing I ever saw her in was the crap classic Inseminoid, where she gets possessed by an alien and gorily kills a ton of people. I then worked my way backwards through her career, seeing her in some minor horror classics as "Fear in the Night" and "Candle for the Devil." I think I may have ruined "To Sir, With Love!" (It doesn't help that I'm also familiar with Suzie Kendall from Bird with the Crystal Plumage, Tales that Witness Madness and Torso)

Although still available for a somewhat reasonable price, Jason and the Argonauts is actually OOP in the US as well. The 7th Voyage of Sinbad is the only one currently still in print in the US - so this is definitely a great deal for those who don't already own them.

I've never been a part of the promotion sale. I actually discovered this label a month ago. So far, I own Hard Times and The Driver. Both titles were blind buys, and I love them both. I want to continue buying some of the TT titles. How does the promotion sale work?

Usually you need to pre-load at least 4 TT titles into your cart since there's a minimum purchase required, then at 4pm a separate listing for the signed title at $0 will appear on the SAE website...add that to your cart then check out.

I watched two of the four Kim Novak titles from TT: Bell, Book, and Candle and Picnic. Enjoyed them both, so now I'm contemplating the other two, The Eddie Duchin Story and Pal Joey. Since Twilight Time seems to love Kim Novak, I wonder if Middle of the Night (1959) is on the horizon. She mentions this is her favorite role.

Beware also that many of these sell out in minutes so having all you information available (CC info and security codes, account password b/c you will be asked to sign in again when you start checkout regardless of whether you signed in before) and being online a little before 4pm is often highly advisable. "To Sir..." may not be one of the 3 minute sell outs, but I've never quite been good at predicting how quickly it will go.
Does it have to be only TT titles? I want to buy two TT and some Scorpion titles.

I would like to see a blu with her in the remake of the Bette Davis classic, Of Human Bondage.

Yes, it's too bad. I loved Pal Joey. To me, it's the most quintessentially "Frank Sinatra" movie I've seen. If you love his particular brand of music, style and swagger, then I'd recommend this. 2015 marks the 100th Anniversary of his birth, so let's see if that generates enough buzz for a sell-out.

You have to buy the required amount in Twilight Time titles yes, but there's nothing to stop you from adding additional items to your order at the same time.

I have not heard anything about a delay. TT on Facebook indicated orders should be shipping within the next couple of days. Keep checking the SAE site. I noticed tracking # there long before they sent a notification.

Have any extras been confirmed for House of Bamboo? I'm assuming they will port the Ursini/Silver commentary?
