4 discs at Priority mail being 9.49. Yet you could easily fit that order in a flat rate BUBBLE envelope. (in fact you could fit more than that in one). Which also gives $100 insurance for any concerns they may have.
4 Blus stuffed in one of the USPS flat-rate envelopes, even the bubble one, is simply asking for damage. And I think the USPS insurance coverage on those is actually $50, not $100.

I'm with hariseldon - I continue to buy from SAE primarily because of their excellent secure box packaging for multiple items. It's a $2.50 difference between a flimsy flat-rate USPS priority bubble-envelope, and SAE shipping the same items priority in a protective box, which could cost more for them based on destination, but $30 items will now easily arrive in pristine condition. Duh.

Have only ordered from TT directly a couple of times, and also received boxed shipments.

Talking about insurance, I've noticed when SAE ships via priority mail the insurance is listed as $50 but when TT ships via priority mail the insurance is listed as $100 on the USPS tracking site. Not sure why the difference.

Interesting. I still think the standard insurance for priority flat-rate via USPS is $50, but a merchant can always purchase additional insurance if wanted, so maybe TT is paying a little extra to increase it to $100 based on the # of items sold?

Watched Garden of Evil today for the first time and enjoyed it. Wonderful score by Bernard Herrmann, great CinemaScope camera work in Mexico by Milton Krasner. Excellent pq, stereo sound, plus Rita Moreno (in a very brief but attention-grabbing role), Susan Hayward, Richard Widmark, and the one and only Gary Cooper. As Julie Kirgo writes in her liner notes, "Cooper, distinctively spare and natural, is so iconic here it almost hurts; has there ever been a star so lean, both physically and temperamentally?" Well said. It was clear the screenplay by Frank Fenton was written very specifically for Cooper. By this time Cooper had already been a star for more than 25 years—and he still had another 6 years to go. A good Western, overall, and some elements—like the score, the images, and Coop—are definitely great. And I guess I'd add Widmark...

Just bit the bullet on Murphy's Law but, man, I'd be lying if I said paying $34 didn't hurt. Paying more than a typical Criterion for something that should be $20 tops is not something I see myself doing much more of in the future. Only wishlist titles from here on in for me.

Murphy's Law isn't going to sell out anytime soon. If it hurts to pay that much, why not wait for a sale or one of the signed promos to alleviate the costs a bit?

Agree with the previous poster. If you couldn't wait until the next sale, then obviously the $14 extra IS worth it to you.

Any news on Panic Room ? I watched a HDTV open matte version (which I doubt will be the eventual blu Ray ratio) and it looked lovely ? Really hoping we are getting this soon plus all the extras from the special edition DVD

Hey folks, it looks like they've added more titles to the 7 for 7 bundle. Sexy Beast, Royal Flash, the Other, Pal Joey, Bite the Bullet and a few others. Quite a few good ones on there, a lot of which I already have, but they're definitely cleaning house with a lot of these.

I just saw it too. The other day I was going to buy seven titles but I waited until I had a little extra cash. Pick up some that sound interesting. All blind buys except two.

Wow. I was a bit miffed that they added Alamo Bay previously, as I would've loved to get that instead of Mindwarp, but that's how it goes. But now, there are at least (another) seven titles for me to pick up. I won't be ordering until Friday (pay day) but when I do, I'll go for:

Alamo Bay
Désirée
Nicholas and Alexandra
Philadelphia
Royal Flash
Sexy Beast
The Way We Were

Panic Room was great and my second favorite Fincher movie right behind Se7en which in my opinion, Fincher has yet to top. Hoping for a Criterion release one day for that one. Here's hoping for a Panic Room release announcement from TT sometime this year or early next.

What are your thoughts on Royal Flash? I bought three on the list you made.

I thought Royal Flash was a fun movie. It's a lighthearted, tongue-in cheek romp in the same vein as Lester's Musketeers films. If you liked those, I'm sure you'll like it too.
