If only Scheider had lived long enough to team up with him again on his seminal work Saving Christmas: the scenes of Saint Nicholas beating up heretics could have been written for him.

My bad. I thought of her after I posted initially. She was a big omission on my part. I think a generation remembers her primarily for her tremendous success in soaps. She was a late, great actor for sure.

Has anyone gotten orders directly from TT sealed but the discs have light scratches or finger prints on them?

On my recent order of 13 discs, I opened 7 of them and 3 or 4 of them have fingers prints, and one has some light scratches... Luckily, none have had issues playing, but it just is odd when it's factory sealed.

Anyone?

I checked the titles from my sale orders and "No Down Payment" had remains of finger prints.

Another solid Scheider crime/action film that's worth getting is 52 Pick-Up, which is currently in Kino Lorber's on-going "While Supplies Last" sale. John Frankenheimer direction, based on an Elmore Leonard novel, with Leonard co-writing the screenplay, and Ann-Margaret as the female lead. But the real treat is John Glover as the psychopathic Big Bad.

But what a F*cking meteor, I absolutely love him. He is in so many films that I love and always elevates the film, in my humble opinion of course

Yeah, as someone mentioned earlier, I always loved him in Marathon Man, where he really shined in a film with 2 of the greatest actors ever....

LOL thanks everyone for temporarily turning this into a Roy Scheider appreciation thread.

I'm definitely ordering or adding to my wishlist for future purchase some of the titles mentioned

Anyone?
My copy of Tony Rome has fingerprints on it, and My Gal Sal has something on it, both were sealed. My copy of Garden of Evil wasn't wrapped at all and had fingerprints on it. It played just fine.

Hmmm ... do you suppose some of the discs were originally packaged in blue cases, and were repackaged into clear cases? The flagship Vintage Stock store is in Joplin, and I've watched them reseal used blu-rays for resale. If they didn't put "USED" stickers on the outside of the finished product, you might never know that they weren't brand new. Just a thought.

I'm assuming it's because the discs are put in by hand before they are sealed?

Or are the result of random eyeball-level quality checks while the pressing is in progress.

Think of the positive: By doing the movie, he got to work Cindy Mancini.

I've received a couple of TT discs that had fingerprints but no scratches. I have received Criterion discs with random fingerprints too. They are small companies and the discs are handled by the people packing them so it's no surprise really. All of mine were sealed. It's a shame one of yours has scratches, but I'm glad it plays fine. I did once buy a sealed Criterion that had scratches and Barnes and Noble exchanged it for me without issue.

Screen Archives cancelled my order of Strange Invaders that I placed on May 11th when their website showed it as In-Stock. I've sent them two emails asking why but so far no reply. Pathetic.

Well, the obvious answer is that their website did not accurately reflect their actual inventory. There's always this:
