No, that wouldn't be the reason. It's always been that price. It was their first blu release so maybe that explains the higher price tag.

It has always been the same price. Personally, it think it is well worth the price. Selling at $40 is probably the reason why it has yet to sell out. We do know that there're over 500 copies left as the email has not gone out.

A note about MAJOR DUNDEE: At Sony's request it has been pushed back to March / April 2013 in order to do more restoration work on the master. We are sorry about that as we are as eager as anyone to see it released. However, we feel the wait will be worthwhile..
Well they've got me expected something of a masterpiece in restoration now.

Or maybe they've magically discovered all that long-lost footage

Hoping that a Major Dundee blu ray will include both the original score, and the one recorded in 2005.

All their releases have been region free so far. I can't imagine that would change.

That's what I felt when I watched the DVD a couple of years ago. It was a great night out when I saw it in the 60's. It's a handsome looking film, but never laugh out loud funny the way that The Great Race still is.

The only one that I'm aware of is Cover Girl. Even TT's DVDs have have isolated scores.

I totally agree. Enemy Mine is one of my favorite science fiction films, I've been hoping for a Blu-ray release of this. Bye Bye Birdie is also a favorite. I am presuming that Bye Bye Birdie will have one heck of a soundtrack, it was run on one of the cable channels and I couldn't believe how good it sounded. Even the DVD sounded good, so lossless should prove fantastic!

Even viewing it through 80's-Sci-Fantasy glasses (I was there, junior, and those three were painfui), I still remembered it in the theaters as being.....one really, really long multiculturalist-PC Star Trek:TNG episode.

(Of course, such things didn't exist back in '84, so they thought they were the first.
To say "They wouldn't be the last" is putting it, um, mildly. )

It's good--in that it has Quaid, Gossett, and Brion James from Blade Runner in it, and was Wolfgang Petersen's first big American ticket after "Neverending Story"--but by '12 standards, you've seen this movie a hundred times on Trek:TNG and Voyager by now.

(Darmok and Jalad, at Tanagra.)

Bye Bye Birdie gets excellent marks for PQ in the site's review. Good feedback for fans of the movie.
