Big question for y'all...
After a few days of indecision and research, I finally decided to order Rapture and The Big Heat. After realizing that the orders cost exactly the same whether ordering directly from Screen Archives Entertainment or ordering from SAE as a third-party through Amazon.com ($34 apiece either way after shipping and such), I decided to order from Amazon, since my card is already set up in their system and it's a painless way of ordering. Has anyone ordered from Screen Archives through the Amazon system before and, if so, was there any difficulty in the process? I wonder if I ordered one of the last copies of The Big Heat. Surprised that this movie is still available. Looking forward to it, because I'm a big Lee Marvin fan. |

well I for one definitely think new catalog blu-rays will be coming out in 3 years.
I mean that's not that far off. now 8 years from now could be a different story, but imo the studios certainly want physical media and streaming to co-exist, and are have barely touched their catalogs at present as far as bd releases. dvds are still coming out, and hopefully we are just STARTING with catalog blu-ray releases. |

WHY??!! Why do they hand off The Song of Bernadette, Leave Her to Heaven, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and Demetrius and the Gladiators while actually wide releasing an early talkie with questionable sales potential outside of a Best Actor win. WTF, Fox? TT would have loved to have had that one. |

And yes conversion is going to take some time. I'm just saying that films like Swamp Water or Wayward Bus which won't sell out in their 3 year window will not get another release if TT still has stock. The sellouts? We'll see but I wouldn't bet on it. Will they continue to release new catalog titles? Of course. I still get shocked whenever I see a wait at a frickin Red Box, and I know those people aren't pulling blus out of there by and large. So yeah there is a way to go towards conversion, but a lot of people are going from DVD to streaming during this period as well. |

Rapture is a title I can see becoming very sought after once it sells out. I think others will agree the film is great, but it would be a title I could see FOX passing on a BLU re-issue once the distribution rights of 3 years is over.

RAPTURE is a Fox title. I'm doubtful there will be another physical media issue beyond TT's.

I just thought, John Frankenheimer's The Challenge would make a great TT title since Fox don't have the intention to release it anytime soon.

I got the "Shipping Soon" notice for Rapture and The Big Heat, with an expected arrival date of April 4. I'm in no hurry, and I'll just be glad to get them when I get them. |

Fox does not control THE CHALLENGE, though I would LOVE a release from TT or someone else. It is a CBS Theatrical title. Those titles are now handled by Paramount on home video. THE CHALLENGE was released by CBS / Fox Video on VHS, Beta, and CED in the early '80s. You will notice many of those CBS titles (released back in the day by CBS / Fox and, later, Fox) are now on DVD by way of Paramount.

I absolutely agree. However, I do see some marketing potential for Journey to the Center of the Earth as part of the studio classics line in 2015. That is, if that line is still operating then. In any case, I'm not getting my hopes up: I'm just saying that a wider market does exist. Same case for the horror titles from TT that have sold out.

I don't believe the Warner / Paramount distribution deal will extend to the WA anyway--those are titles owned by WB outright (WB, RKO, AA, and [pre-1986] MGM). WB has signed on to distribute Paramount titles on (pressed) DVD and Blu-ray as far as I can see. They don't own and didn't acquire the Paramount catalogue outright. |

He means going to the site and putting things in the cart during heavy access times... too many people trying to get to the site is why it lags or crashes. It is the same concept as a denial-of-service attack. Once people have placed their order, they should refrain from going to the site too often until things slow down.

![]() It's hard to believe that NOBODY would jump on that opportunity. I'm sure there will be some oddball film that despite selling out, for some reason or another never makes another appearance on home video. But I think a good chunk of them definitely will in some form or another (maybe as part of a cheap "double pack" or even a Mill Creek set). It may or may not have the same quality if they go that route, but at least it would be a non-limited blu-ray. Now for the films that DON'T sell out quickly, my guess is they are pretty much toast as far as ever having another video release. That probably is stating the obvious. |
