Edit: MGM also does not hold the rights to this film anymore. Just about all MGM films produced before May of 1986 are currently the property of Warner Brothers. MGM/UA's current pre-May 1986 library consists of films that they've acquired from other production studios and film libraries over the years such as United Artists and Orion Films. MGM doesn't actually hold the rights to either of those films anymore. They're with Warner Brothers.

I just placed an order for Experiment in Terror. Thanks, everyone, for not buying all the copies of this already. *group hug*
I ordered through Amazon.com with SAE as the third-party distributor, just as I did with The Big Heat and Rapture, because I received both of those just days after placing those orders. I really hope that the 1960 version of The Time Machine is not released in a limited edition when it is inevitably released. This is one of my all-time favorite films, and I'll be soured if I have to jump through the hoops to obtain this in time or, even worse, miss out on the sale. This movie deserves a wide release. Speaking of classic sci fi, any chance TT (or anyone else) could get the rights to the 1962 Day of the Triffids? Apparently there was a high-def transfer made in 2009 but it has yet to be released on blu (or even a new DVD since then)

I would love to see a two-fer: The 1960 version and the 2002 version of The Time Machine.

Yep, with MGM, think the United Artists film catalogue. A lot of great movies there: Run Silent, Run Deep, The Sweet Smell Of Success, The Vikings, Tom Jones, a ton of great stuff! They also own the American International catalogue. Films like: The Pit & The Pendulum, Tales Of Terror & The Masque Of The Red Death. Mind you, before anything can be released, it would need a good HD remaster.

If they're not already licensed out to one of the budget labels, a lot of the genre titles controlled by MGM stand a good chance of coming out via Scream Factory. |

Here is a list of MGM owned titles http://www.mgm.com/#/our-titles
Evidently, some of them has been licensed to labels such as Criterion, Shout etc. And here's the list of MGM titles that, IMO, would suite TT very nicely (I haven't bothered to mention titles that I believe will be released by Fox themselves or some other label ): Wilder's One, Two, Three, The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes and Fortune Cookie Lang's The Woman in the Window Altman's The Long Goodbye, Thieves Like Us and Images Frankenheimer's The Train and Birdman of Alcatraz Ashby's Bound For Glory and Coming Home Cimino's Thunderbolt & Lightfoot and Year of the Dragon Jewison's Rollerball Kennedy's Support Your Local Sheriff! Peckinpah's Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia and Junior Bonner Fosse's Lenny Milius's Dillinger Brooks's Elmer Gantry Post's Go Tell the Spartans Crichton's The Great Train Robbery Hiller's The Hospital Fisher's The Hound of Baskervilles Kramer's Judgement at Nuremberg, Inherit the Wind and On the Beach Cassavetes's Love Streams Leone's Duck, You Sucker Huston's Moby Dick Herek's Mr Holland's Opus Russells's Women in Love Parker's Mississippi Burning Lumet's The Offence and Equus Edwards's The Party Rosenberg's The Pope of Greenwich Village Mankiewicz's The Barefoot Contessa Foley's At Close Range Shear's Across 110th Street Sherin's Valdez is Coming Winterbottom's 24 Hour Party People De Jarnatt's Miracle Mile Runaway Train Spottiswoode's Under Fire ...to name a few ![]() Last edited by Akijama; 03-26-2013 at 09:34 PM. |

Excellent list. For those not confined to Region A, there are versions of LONG GOODBYE, ALFREDO GARCIA, THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTFOOT, AT CLOSE RANGE either already out there or coming soon. T AND L was just announced by Second Sight. There are probably some others on the below list that also fit in that category.
I would add Kleiser's SUMMER LOVERS, which has never been available in 16x9 in any home video edition and also has a great Basil Poledouris--in "Vangelis mode"--score. Quote:
