Ahhh.

It might be helpful if I actually start reading the SAE emails instead of deleting them right away. Hmmm. I should work on that.

No biggie. I paid full price for Jane Eyre this morning when I was unaware of the coupon code, but that's the mother of all first world problems.

I called them to complain about not getting the discount for 19 items that have been in my cart for over a month easily. He said that the coupon had expired and didn't know why I didn't get the email. The guy said there must have been on oversight but was unwilling to give me 10% off. If they had any class. they would have given the 10% off. Customer service is a thing of the past I guess.

Yeah, it seems kind of petty of them to deny it when you're ready to drop a ton of cash on their product.

Still, it pays to keep a bunch of stuff in your cart in case the offer comes up again. I only have it there so I can track the numbers remaining.

You should have picked up the Seiki BD660 at Walmart when it was popular a couple of years back. They were going for like 50 bucks and I picked a couple of them up. Great machines. I don't know of any other retail stores in Canada that sell region free blu-ray players but you can check little shops if you live near a china town. You never know what you can come across and it helps to ask folks who work in these specialty shops because they might know of a model that does what you want. I remember seeing adds for this small electronics store that had region free dvd players and they actually listed them as REGION FREE. You'll never see a large retail store advertising their machines as being region free.

You can check this place but they're in the US and I don't know how much shipping is to Canada. They have an LG for 140 bucks but with shipping and duty and taxes you might end up paying double.

Boy the new shipping at Screen Archives sucks. You have to pay $4.30 but at least you got first class shipping. From where I lived I would get it in 2 days, and often times overnight. Now the shipping is the same but now it takes 5 days. Boy this company makes every wrong move.

The coupon code is WISH. If it's anything like last time it's a generic code but only active on accounts that received the code.

Wrong, it just worked fine for me and I never got an email, thanks!

Good to know. Last time it was a generic code as well but even though that code was posted to the forums members who didn't receive the email reported it not working last time.

Cool, it's so nice to finally get some kind of discount from this place. It's only 10 percent but it basically gave me free shipping, it's something.

I'll have to see if I can dig up the interview that was done with someone with Sony/Columbia. I'm sorry but I don't remember where I had read the actual quote I'm referring to, but it was an interview relating to the decline in catalog sales from the DVD format to Blu-Ray, conducted several years ago. And in remembering it now, he actually only referred to JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS specifically, not 7th VOYAGE. But in the quote the interviewee mentioned some catalog titles that he felt people would be shocked at how low the sales numbers had been at that point in time. I'll see if I can dig up the interview in question...

Thanks. As they said, I'm "shocked at how low the sales numbers [apparently were] at that point in time".

Though there's one thing about most intense Harryhausen fans: regardless of where/how the films get released, they WILL get them. [I hadn't yet heard of Twilight Time until Mysterious Island was already sold out. I bit the bullet and paid $92 for a copy. And I don't regret it one bit: beautiful transfer of a 'Family Classic' that I am very pleased to own.]

JatA is the one title I specifically went out of my way to buy over and over again. I wanted to make sure to pass it on to my nephews so they knew what my favorite childhood film was and also so they would know the types of films we enjoyed back then ... especially those great special effects. I also bought copies for the childhood friends I saw JatA with in the theaters way back when. Soooo ... I bought my share.

Hey Pirate King! ... That calls for an "Aarrrrrgh!"

I'm looking forward to owning the two Sinbads too! To be honest, my memory of those films isn't nearly as strong as for JatA ... maybe more on the mid to lower end of the Harryhausen films for me. But one can never have enough Harryhausen (IMO).

Is your Seiki noisy as hell to? Great player, but that thing makes too much noise when a film gets quiet.

Mine isn't, I think it was a problem with the first batch produced. My reader is always working like it was new after 3 years without noise, over-heating or remote control problem.
