I'm curious about this too. People have given the specific number of copies remaining for certain films in this thread, but not, to my knowledge, provided a source.

My concern is that Insignia player that people keep recommending is only available refurbished (and looks to be a real piece of crap anyway). I think if you are looking 5-10 years out there will be more options than right now or in the short term. I mean there can't possibly be any LESS options than right now, which is basically either that Insignia, an HTPC, or a hacked unit from one one of the main manufacturers. At worst I think the price tag on the latter two options will just continue to fall. (or like someone else said, just buying a separate REGION B player).

I'm personally very interested in building a HTPC myself, both for some gaming and for blu-ray watching. I think the option to make the HTPC "region free" will always be there. I see that Insignia as only a "temporary" player and I'm not willing to start buying region B discs until l have a permanent solution.

just a FYI...I own 4 Insignias and no problems and that 'piece of crap' has lasted about a year so far and no problems. for $50 you can have region free with no 'hacking'. I say, buy the 'piece of crap' and be region free' or pay 3-4 times the price...your choice just wanted to let you know that the price and name dont mean its a bad unit

I might have considered it if they still had new ones. But the fact it's refurbished AND an unreliable unit to begin with is what puts it over the top for me. The review that gets me on the Best Buy website is the one that mentions the reconditioned remote control featuring "crumbs" and finger grease. I just can't get past that even for a measly $50 or whatever it costs now. (I actually only spent about $79 on my Panasonic player that has been going strong for 3 years now). I'm just speculating that in the future even the "hacked" units will probably be more like $100 rather than the $200+ most of them seem to go for now.

Anyway I've been wanting to go the HTPC route for quite awhile now, pretty sure that's what I'll eventually do. I wouldn't spend that much for just a blu-ray player mind you, but I'm also interested in it for gaming. The gaming part of it is why I haven't already built a HTPC, I'm waiting for a little more power out of AMD's APU processors to make the gaming aspect of it a little more legitimate (as an upgrade from my PS3). I don't want to build an HTPC with a full scale graphics card, I want one that can fit inside a mini-ITX type case and be cool/silent with minimal effort on my part.

Well, its history gets even more curious oildude. The origin of this theme was actually another TV show from the late 50s called Mr. Lucky, which was not only scored by Henry Mancini*...

...but also developed/produced by - get this - Blake Edwards!!!

Talk about creatively repurposing your own work...

* He originally called this tune "March of the Cue Balls". Quite different arrangement too.

ITs unreliable, but some but in tentative ordrers for large numbers of copies. They are then told that there are less available.

Oh, man. Thanks for the link, Rock. Talk about childhood memories. The High Time theme was used on the earlier Mr. Peppermint Show, which I saw near the end of its run around 1968-1969. It came back as Peppermint Place in 1975 with a different theme song.

I had my cartoons mixed up in my post above. Felix the Cat was the one they played most frequently, not Looney Tunes. Looney Tunes and The 3 Stooges came on after The Mr. Peppermint Show

I never watched Peppermint Place. We lived overseas in the 1970s and by the time we returned to Texas years later, I was into stuff like Harryhausen and Vincent Price.

People play the cart game and that has been proven to be innacurate many times over. SAE sends an email when less than 500 copies are left and the title sells out quickly after that. Nick Redman posted a couple of times in this thread and whiteshiek is friends with the owners of TT, but they are not giving specific data for the number of copies left (which is a good thing imo).

Anyways, my personal guess is that The Big Heat will sell out next.

You're certainly welcome oildude...but I'm just as grateful for your post about Mr. Peppermint because that got me digging a little deeper into the history of Mancini's music for High Time. Otherwise, I might never have discovered the Mr. Lucky connection.

Received Bye Bye Birdie today. Quickest international SAE delivery time yet. They posted only 6 days ago, where usually it takes 3 weeks!

are there any discount codes that still work?

It keeps acting like it won't take the Amazon one anymore.

Oh well, I decided to throw down on The Big Heat since it's more than likely going OOP soon.

Well, you're buying it for the wrong reason - buy it because it's a great movie not because someone thinks it MIGHT be going OOP soon. Obviously it hasn't reached the 500 remaining place - that is obvious, isn't it?

The Big Heat was a fantastic movie, me and the wife just got through watching it the other night. Great noir film, total blind buy for me...but well worth it...and great transfer to boot!!!

I'm a huge Fritz Lang fan, so I just wanted to grab a copy before I had a repeat of Fright Night.

It has nothing to do with the movies, as I've seen everything that TT has put out or has lined up throughout the remainder of the year. It's about making sure that I can procure a BR copy in the face of speculation over a fixed supply.

I would've grabbed an additional title, but that AMAZON discount code doesn't seem to be working anymore.

That Enemy Mine cover is flat out horrible. I'm still ordering it though. I was really hoping for the original one sheet or at least some slight variation of it. That cover comes off as real - kumbayaish.

Not great covers - that NOTLD looks more like it should be on some vampire horror movie or something.
Im not so sure Im going to get this. It all depends on a couple of things, mainly if it comes with the commentary which would then replace the DVD.
They really need to release titles that have never been released before or were released before and contained zero extras.
