Actually, while I missed out on The Big Heat the first time around, I did end up buying a copy from an Amazon seller for what I felt to be an acceptable price. I ended up buying the reissue as well, for the extra extras.

My memory's a bit sketchy but I seem to remember them saying they are releasing it but are waiting on Sony to remaster it or something. I'm pretty sure it's TT that will be releasing it though.

In this post here, it is reported Nick Redman is looking to obtain it.

As of the March 2nd pre-orders, Twilight Time has released 190 titles (counting reissues as distinct releases). Only 30 of those are OOP. That's a 15% sell-out rate. Not insignificant, but not insanely high, either.

It certainly sucks when one of them is a title you really want, but unless one is a big fan of 70s-90s horror (which you are, obviously) the odds of that happening aren't all that high. The ones that I'm most sorry I didn't manage to get were ones that were already sold out long before I started considering buying Twilight Time releases. Can't do anything about that (although three of them were reissued, and I did get the reissues).
Agreed. I pre-ordered the re-release of The Big Heat for the reason you identify; my TT journey began only last summer and I didn't want to risk not getting what is obviously one of TT's most popular titles. I try not to panic about titles going OOP. I could pick up a dozen or more TT titles right now, if I weren't holding out for a possible anniversary sale. If one doesn't materialize, I'll get them in order of desirability and keep an eye on the Low Quantity updates.

I did, however, jump on the SAE pre-order of Puppet on a Chain as it is limited to 1,000 copies and I am a huge fan of Alistair MacLean stories. I don't know anything about Scorpion Releasing and it will be my first title from them, so I've no idea if, or how quickly, their releases go OOP.

So has anyone figured out if the rerelease of The Big Heat is an improvement in either audio or video quality?

According to the specs on DVDBeaver, the two transfer are nearly identical.

Default Peyton Place (1957) coming from Twilight Time

Looks like Twilight Time has acquired release rights for Peyton Place (1957) from Fox. In response to a question if any 4K restorations of the film were available, TT replied:

A movie that stars Lana Turner and has the tagline, "Suitable Only for Adults."

Count me in.

I love soap-opery melodramas of that era, if that's what is this film.

That's like asking if Star Wars has robots.

Put in pre-orders for Anastasia and Exodus.

Now that Exodus is going to be released, the only Ultra-Panavision titles not on blu yet now (though some are not necessarily transferred from the 70mm prints/negatives):

Raintree County (1957)
The Hallelujah Trail (1965)

He later indicated they now have it but are waiting, Sony is working on a 4K re-master.

I hope that Twilight will get the rights on the Bronson movie "The Evil that Men Do" from Henīs Tooth.

That lousy film company will never release any movie on blu-ray.

I believe Exodus was shot in Super Panavision 70, resulting in the 2.20:1 aspect ratio.

You are correct. I got confused with something else.

I'm learning a lot about cinematography, and getting confused between some of the widescreen formats myself.

Recently, I've been focussing on collecting films shot in CinemaScope, and on 70mm. And seeing The Hateful Eight Roadshow release got me very interested in Ultra Panavision; thankfully, TT gives us Khartoum to enjoy. I believe you are right that there are now only two films shot in that format that have yet to be released. I'm slowly getting them all.

Ive just placed 4 titles in my cart & see I've just missed out on the latest freebie offer, can someone remind me when the offer is likely?

2 of my titles are in the limited stock alert so not sure if it's worth risking or not

Lately it has been a week or two after a pre-order date. The announcement of a signed promo happens a day or two before it goes live at SAE. The next one is likely during the first two weeks of April.

When what offer is likely? The next signed promo or the (still hypothetical) Fifth Anniversary Sale? The signed promos are basically once a month, but not on any hard schedule other than not being on pre-order days. But there's no guarantee of one -- for example, there wasn't one this past December (though there were two the previous December).

If there's a Fifth Anniversary Sale, it'll probably be within the next week or two. The first one started on 2014 03 19, and the second on 2015 03 25.
