That happens all the time. Concert tickets, playoff tickets, they get snapped up by the hundreds and scalped or given to corporate sponsors who don't actually use the seats. If you're trying to offer that up as a reasonable comparison to this friend of yours who missed out on a title he ordered at the last minute allegedly before others who received theirs, you really need to drop it. Yeah, it's unfortunate IF that's the whole story, but that's life. I'm sure he'll live.

Yes, I did, and I loved it. The 70mm Road Show for The Hateful Eight was a class act across the board.

It sort of chaps my butt that the standard version is the only one available on Blu-ray, but I'm holding off until the inevitable 70mm aspect ratio Blu-ray is released.

The Blu-ray is in the Ultra Panavision 70 ratio (2.76:1). It just doesn't have the extra 20 or so minutes of the roadshow version.

Oh...I did not realize that. Still, I'd like the Road Show version on Blu-ray, overture, intermission, and all.

SMH. It's not an isolated case my friend. There have been six others that I know of that this happened to. You need to stop justifying it with your rationalizations. They got busted, and now we know that there is something a miss here with their ordering system. Forget the scalpers I am talking about the people that bought 1 copy two and three days later and received an order. If people let it continue it will just happen to someone else next time. I have no horse in this race (as I would never own anything with Pat Boone in it) but my goodness to just sweep stuff under the rug constantly with this company is appalling. But to each his own I guess. Hope it never happens to you. There is a bigger issue than missing out on a BD, it's the principal. You can get the thing off ebay if you want it for a 10 dollar markup right now.

Whether it's an isolated case or not, you've said your piece already. In fact you've said it several times. If you have issues with Screen Archives and / or Twilight Time takes your complaints to them. And as has been brought up before, if you have no intention whatsoever of ever buying any Twilight Time titles THEN WHY ARE YOU POSTING HERE with your passive-aggressive digs about issues which, funnily enough, did not affect you personally? Also, in context of how you are using it, the word is "principle", not "principal".

The only thing that made any sense was your correction of my misspelled word (wrong context). Thank you for the grammar check. As for the rest of it; let's just sweep it all under the rug. Now you should be happy!

I wouldn't say the Roadshow version is "inevitable". I'm still waiting for Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair and that has been how many years now?

Though, that was something QT was still putting together privately only until more recently. The Roadshow Hateful Eight is technically in the bag, had a release, had digital prints struck as well, and is basically just sitting in the Weinstein's library. They can put it out anytime they want, I'd say, though I thought I read somewhere that Tarantino wanted to keep the roadshow edition strictly theatrical.

Yes, and I thoroughly enjoyed it - both the film and the experience. I'm a big fan of the whole "Roadshow" thing: Overture; Intermission; Entr'acte, or any combination thereof. I never fast-forward - whether I'm watching an epic like Khartoum for the first time, or a personal favourite like Ice Station Zebra for the umpteenth time.

ICE STATION ZEBRA is a really good movie---but the ending ruins the rest of the movie.
I heard it's being remade---I hope they come up with a better ending.

Same here. I'm just not going to wait for it, I bought the current release. I love this movie too much to wait for something that may never come.

I see Twilight Time have confirmed a Bogart title is coming later this year. Given the titles available to them, it's most likely one of the following:

Knock on Any Door (1949)
Tokyo Joe (1949)
Sirocco (1951)
The Barefoot Contessa (1954)
The Left Hand of God (1955)
The Harder They Fall (1956)

I'm hoping for The Harder They Fall myself. Whatever is coming, it's certainly been a good year so far for Bogey on Blu-ray.

Personally, I think Howard Hughes wasn't so crazy after all. (Though the obvious soundstage visuals at the conclusion of a "Cinerama" film are a letdown.)

It's a very good movie too, rather underrated nowadays.

I placed my order for the autographed copy of 10 to Midnight, along with:

The Big Heat (encore edition)
Julia
Sleepless in Seattle
Where the Sidewalk Ends

I know that pre-ordering Julia is going to hold my order up for a week, but that's okay; it's one of my favorite movies of all time, and the fact that it includes an isolated track with Georges Delerue's superb score made it a no-brainer for me. I've waited forever for the original soundtrack to be issued separately, but it's never happened (or if it did, I never had a chance to purchase it.) This is going to be a fantastic shipment when it gets here.

If by "terrible" you mean a superior cold war thriller directed by John Sturges, shot in Super Panavision 70, scored by Michel Legrand, starring (amongst others) the incomparable Patrick McGoohan, etc., then I would agree.
