I think if someone has watched movies long enough, and is of a certain age, they pretty much know what their tastes are going in. Mine are very broad and I like films across many genres and eras. I blind buy a lot, but I know based on subject matter, director, what I have heard about it over the years or what I have read about it online, that I have a good idea if it is in my wheelhouse. Hence, I don't have many misses in my collection. My ratings of films in my collection therefore most definitely skew positive.

Sometimes my mostly spot-on spidey sense fails me and I get a film I really don't care for or even an outright stinker. When that happens, I generally get rid of it. Do I write a negative review of it? Hardly ever, unless I can have some fun celebrating its awfulness or its dullness or whatever I find off-putting about it (and to be honest, the movies I find bad or not to my taste are often more fun to write about). I also have mediocre titles that I keep in my collection, for various reasons.

Life is too short to waste time on bad movies. I still have too many blu-rays left to watch.

Heat got its stars together twice, with one scene being a certified classic.

I'd liken Chato's Land more to
[Show spoiler]The Young Lions; not getting Clift and Brando to share the screen in their one solo collaboration is unforgivable.

Really liked The Eddy Duchin Story. One of my three favorite performances by Tyrone Power, along with The Razor's Edge and The Rains Came. Keep a box of kleenex handy....

Agree 100%. It's a beautiful film, one of many gems I have discovered through TT. In fact, I have become a Kim Novak and Tyrone Power fan in no small part due to the output of Twilight Time. The Eddy Duchin Story doesn't get talked about at all, but it deserves lots of praise for the performances of its stars, its great score, its lovely CinemaScope presentation, and as an example of how to blend biopic and melodrama into something that is moving, heartfelt, and wonderful. Tyrone Power really shines in this one.

TT hinted on FB about having "9 to 5"

Twilight Time Movies: Not sure if we can get TWM - but we have another project that we're hoping to have both Jane and Lily together for!

I think the film makes it easy to reach that conclusion. After all,

Glad TT have released a bunch of films with Kim Novak. I got all of them, which grew my appreciation of her even more. Of course The Eddie Duchin Story is one of my favorites!

Need to get The Eddy Duchin Story. I am always interested in CinemaScope films, and Kim Novak is very easy on the eye. A great beauty, and talented actress. I missed the TT release of Bell, Book and Candle as a blind buy, so just picked up the Spanish release, which I assume is authorized: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Bell-...Blu-ray/97419/

Also, seeing Vertigo in 70mm this Saturday, which will be fantastic.

All the Resen blu-rays are knock offs of TT and Carlotta releases. Sadly I didn't realize that until I bought Mysterious Island and Garden of Evil from them and found out they are both burned. I was able to replace Mysterious Island when TT rereleased it and will purchase TT's Garden of Evil in a few months when it comes out.

Thanks. That's disappointing. No real impact to me financially as it was a few bucks shipped from the EU. However, it does beg the question why a known bootleg has an entry on this site with a link to buy. Maybe oildude could chime in on this. I certainly don't want to support this type of activity, and this site shouldn't get caught up in helping to facilitate it - even if it doesn't condone it.

Okay, the hunt is on for a copy of the TT release for reasonable money. If you have one for sale, please PM me.

I'm just in the middle of watching it now for the first time, what a wonderful feast of music from the 30's and 40's and and particularly impressed with the gorgeous technicolor and cinemascope

I did pay extra for Bell Book And Candle after it went out of print. Taking into account the fantastic artwork on the packaging, easily one of TT's best, to me it was well worth the price over the European.

Looks like blu-ray.com is back up and running. Looking forward to a low quantity update after the sale. Sounds like there's a lot of product moving.

I posted this in the dedicated CW thread as well. I just made it. DVD cap may be a little suspect as I took it years ago (but in VLC) and I don't know if MS Paint was the best way to resize it. Still.

Yeah, I deleted it because I wanted to do five in one gallery and then it failed every time I tried to upload the pics.

Here are all five comparisons:

If you can download the pics and successfully get them onto ScreencapComparison where I failed then go for it.

Placed my last order, bringing my haul to:

Born Yesterday
Shadows and Fog
A Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy
Love is a Many-Splendored Thing
The Remains of the Day

I really do love TT's output but goodness do I wish they were affordable for longer swathes of the year.

Ordered Vampires, When the Wind Blows and Hombre. Never seen the latter but I figure it's hard to go wrong with a 60's western based on an Elmore Leonard novel...

Are you aware of the audio issue in When the Wind blows?
It's funny that none of the reviewers caught it. It's so evident if anyone looks at this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LJH...ature=youtu.be

there seems to be an echo in the music and SFX in the main audio track.
(from what i understand the previously released DVD doesn't have that problem)

I wanted to buy it too, but I haven't due to that reason.

More on the matter in the last couple of pages in this thread:
