You're right it was SAE but certain titles, even if their quantity is low, really aren't as low as they appear to be depending on how long they've been available. I am grateful we get a heads up from both SAE and TT when they get to around 20% remaining. I'm thinking remaining stock of Judgment at Nuremberg and Sleepless in Seattle are more critical because SAE had all 3,000 copies (I'm pretty sure). First Men in the Moon might also be available at TT so is "less than 150 copies" truly accurate? For SAE but combined? That's when things aren't quite as clear to me.

The low quantity alert in the first post is for both websites.

You snooze, you lose. Those numbers are the total count as of the date shown. Last call. End of the line. If they weren't, I wouldn't put them up.

Default Bound for Glory

I watched Bound for Glory tonight. It was the first time I'd ever seen it. I liked it quite a bit ... especially for the photography (although the story worked for me too). But I did have a difficult time understanding some of the more soft-spoken dialogue, and ended up repeating some of those parts with the subtitles turned on.

After it was over, I took a look at the blu-ray.com review, to see if it agreed with my thoughts. I'm glad I didn't read the review ahead of time or it might have put a damper on my viewing experience. The review gives a higher rating to the audio than the video, which is kind of a flip-flop from my opinion. Then again my sound system is lacking, so that could be a problem on my end.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Bound...122430/#Review

Anyway, I'm happy with my purchase. (Love those movies featuring trains. )

EDIT: Had I seen this movie in a theater when it first came out, I might agree with the review's video assessment. But I didn't ... so it looked fine to me ... maybe because I didn't have anything to compare it to.

Good to know the remaining count is from both Screen Archives and Twilight Time combined.

I just pulled the trigger on Khartoum after wavering on this title for ages.

My favorable experience with Major Dundee this past weekend whet my appetite for another cerebral Charlton Heston epic.

Do we really need to debate this? Whether some of those titles on that list are low, or really, really low doesn't matter. It's a courtesy on their part to let us know that if any of these titles are on your backburner, it's probably time to think about buying them soon or risk losing out.

However, SAE or TT might not have any of a particular title...TT has NO copies left of Crimes and Misdemeanors, so SAE has ALL of that particular title..picked one up from them...no more than 149 left..

I hope so. I think Nov-Dec is going to be big TT purchase months for me.

They posted on Facebook in a comment somewhere that the titles will be announced in August but maybe a little later this month than usual. So perhaps next week?

Well, since we haven't heard from TT yet I think next week it is. One more week won't kill us, right??

'Crimes and Misdemeanors' and 'The Mechanic' are now back on SAEs top seller list.

'Crimes and Misdemeanors' have been back on the top seller list many times since TTs initial low quantity update of July 21. Can't be many copies of that one left now....

I can't believe that hasn't sold out. For my money, that's Woody Allen's best movie, and I've seen just about all of his respected ones (I think Interiors and Stardust Memories are the only two I have left pre-2000). I guess maybe just the fact that it doesn't have flashy visuals puts people off from the expensive upgrade?

I consider myself to be an astute movie fan, but I do not own any Woody Allen films. I've seen a handful of his movies, and have enjoyed thèm alright, but most of them are not my cup of tea when it comes to rewatch value. Woody Allen's films, like Wes Anderson's, are interesting and witty, but the characters are just not my people, if that makes any sense.

I'd like to have Annie Hall and Match Point, but that's about it.

Match Point is like a weak retread of Crimes and Misdemeanors, FWIW.

You need to rectify that. I consider INTERIORS easily one of Allen's best films, if not his best. There is no humor and no intrusive music score. It's dark, somber, and quiet. Many have called it Bergmanesque. A Woody Allen film for those who may not particularly like his films.

I am a little surprised it hadn't sold out sooner too, but then TT is a little off-the-beaten path unless you're more of a collector, so my guess is that many fans of the film aren't even aware that it's available.

I am chomping at the bit for a release of Interiors. I have both Interiors and Stardust Memories on DVD, but I'd be glad to upgrade both.

No doubt if you only look in B&M stores. With one google search, the first three results are for its pages on Blu-ray.com, ScreenArchives, and Amazon, followed by reviews from other top Blu-ray review sites and a couple articles about the release. So it should be easy to find. I can only assume many don't see certain genres or types of movies as worth that cost, which is probably why Sleepless in Seattle and Philadelphia are still around. For that price and without many/any extras, many fans are probably content with their DVDs. Meanwhile, horror/sci-fi/B-movie fans will pay absurd amounts for junk, myself included.

Just to throw an alternate opinion out there

I think Match Point is an exceptional movie (and as I understand it, it's also one of Woody Allen's personal favourites). I also like Crimes and Misdemeanours but I never took to it as I did Match Point. Despite the dark subject matter, I always found it to be one of Allen's funniest movies but I don't doubt that it all depends on how you relate to it.

It may in large part be down to the fact that I actually saw MP before CaM and just fell in love with it. Another reason might be, being from Britain and having lived in London for many years, the depiction of certain characters and environments in Match Point - the parents played by Brian Cox and Penelope Wilton "Eleanor, I think you have had one too many G and T's.", or the estate agent showing him around the sh***y property at the beginning of the movie "You got a wok? You got a wok? It's one of those oriental, sort of conical pans? The geezer who was in here before, he left one in there. You're welcome to it. I'll throw that in." those characterisations are just so dead on and really ring true for me. Even that office environment that he finds himself working in, despite being played for laughs with vacuous bosses/collegues, is freakishly realistic. To this day, I'm still amazed that Woody Allen, an American, managed to nail the characters and dialogue as well as he did.

Anyway, that's all a long way of saying I wouldn't advise anyone to write off Match Point sight unseen. Also, if you have seen and dismissed it and it's been a while, it would definitely be worth your while giving it another chance.
