I don't have the NOTLD BD, but I think there's one, very clear, lesson to be learned here. If Twilight Time wants to do these limited runs of modern horror Blu-rays, then they need to start contacting the filmmakers and sending them checkdiscs, to ensure that the film presentation is what it should be. It's bad enough that we have to deal with the omission of previously available extras, but considering the company's comments at this point, it's obvious that no one who was aware of how the film should be presented had seen the final Blu-ray (not the image transfer, not the HD master from Sony, the Blu-ray), and when your label is all about the presentation of the film--and has the price tag to prove it--then there's little excuse for that.

I agree completely.

Watched it this evening with the wifey.

I quite honestly enjoyed it more with the darker tones - the blue hues however were slightly distracting when you seen Tony Todd - as it gave his skin more of a Mumm-ra/ gargoyles look.

Overall we enjoyed it.

Should have offered both the theatrical and redux though.

Still worth the purchase.

Here's the clear lesson that still, after all this time, needs to be learned: Twilight Time can contact anyone on the planet earth and get all the comments they like, but, now listen carefully, THEY DON'T DO THE TRANSFERS. Sony and Fox do the transfers. So, if someone wants to contact filmmakers then Sony and Fox are the ones to do it. Whether they do or not is their business. I'm told that Sony does, in fact, involve people who were involved in the film - whether that's the case here or not is not known at this time.

Whatever. Why bother with basic stuff like this? People would rather grab their pitchforks and skewer the first person they think is responsible. Don't talk logic and business rules to us!

I, for one, having watched the lite version of this bs played out with AGAIG am waiting for my copy. Those "hi res" split screens floating around that notld thread are garbage and I suspect the pics above are the result of both a timing change and a terribly calibrated monitor and not in fact representative of what I'll see.

The absolute worst screenshots, which are inaccurate to what is on the actual BD, keep getting reposted for some reason. A lot of the animosity towards the limited nature of Twilight Time's releases and their business model is spilling over into the reaction of NOTLD90 suddenly being color corrected.

And it WAS total bs with As Good As it Gets - a gorgeous transfer finally looking exactly as it should. Again, people basing their comments on what was on some DVD transfer, without even contemplating that the DVD transfer may have been incorrect, which it was.

Well, that's the thing, isn't it? There is no way that an image that dark where you actually cannot see anything in the frame is on the Blu-ray - haven't seen it yet, but will on Thursday, but it is VERY important to remember that a lot of the complaining that's being done is being done by people who haven't seen the disc. Some who have seen the disc are indeed complaining, but at least they've seen it.

It does not look like that at all. Please lets try to keep the "discussion" of NOTLD on the other thread. .

Just caught a little bit of 'The Rains Of Ranchipur' on TCM HD here in the UK. I can't believe the lengths they went to to make Richard Burton look Indian.

I thought he just had a bit of a tan, mind you that's almost unknown in Wales (to Welsh readers, sorry, I know it doesn't rain there all the time). Reading various books about Burton, he did have a fling with Lana Turner during filming.

I didn't think they'd even gone that far. Looked like they'd just stuck a turban on a Welshman and hoped nobody would notice.

When I get a movie in HD, and all the more when I pay HUGE money for that (as the TT releases are almost always barebones) I want the PQ to look exactly like it always had with a better definition/compression! I don't want an assho** to rectify/modify it or whatever, Jeez'!!!
I'm getting fed up of colour timings on various BD releases. Can we keep the original colour and just give a faithful remaster and transfer? I'm even more pissed at people who would accept anything just because it's HD and "better" than DVD.

I couldn't agree more, as long as it's sharp, it seems the colour doesn't matter. So many Blu releases lack the colour of the DVD, & blue/green (teal) rules. Just look at the amount of people defending Jackson over the greeny (& dark) Fellowship Of The Ring, it may be a bit green...but just look at the sharpness
