Walter Hill is my favorite director but the reviews have made me avoid Wild Bill. Any fans up to defending this one?

WILD BILL (1995) BLU-RAY - Oct 17th

PLAY DIRTY (1968) BLU-RAY - Oct 17th

THE CAPTAIN FROM CASTILE (1947) BLU-RAY - Oct 17th

THE PIRATES OF BLOOD RIVER (1962) BLU-RAY - Oct 17th

Some fan favorites here..... one of the most requested Tyrone Power adventure films and a stone cold classic; a British Dirty Dozen starring Michael Caine in one of my most highly anticipated WWII action films finally makes it to the U.S.; Kerwin Matthews and Christopher Lee - "AAARRGH, matey", and Walter Hill teams with Jeff Bridges and Ellen Barkin to bring the legends of Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane to the screen.
I'll be interested in seeing this. I've only seen it once before...back in 1969 in a theater in Salzburg, Austria. In German. I'd never managed to catch up with it (in English) since.

Very excited about "Captain From Castile"! Hope this leads to even more Tyrone Power favorites, like "The Black Rose", another epic historical adventure from 20th Century Fox. While I'm at it, still hoping that "Trouble with Angels" (staring the VASTLY under represented Haley Mills) and "The Long Ships" get offered up to Twilight Time by Sony/Columbia. Always optimistic!

Whoops. To clarify, I meant the cost of shipping.

Pirates of Blood River should have been a double feature with Devil Ship Pirates.

It's an awful film IMO. Gotta be honest. Starts out okay, but just goes into a sharp descent from there.

I suspect that perhaps seventy million or so American women, and not a few American men, might disagree with you on that point.

So looking forward to some vintage Newman on what promises to be a terrific release of a great film.

Yes, Pirates of Blood River should have had Devil Ship Pirates with it as a double feature. To spend $32.00 on one Hammer Film ? I was hoping Mill Creek would release some more Hammer on Bluray. Double features like they did with Gorgon, Two Faces, Curse Mummy's Tomb, and the Not Good Quality...Revenge of Frankenstein. Twilight Time should release Revenge. (soon ?)

If by "derpy" you mean "hot as #@&!", then yes, yes he does...

Yeah agreed. I love almost all of Walter Hill's films except a few I still need to see or need a refresher on and I was hugely disappointed with Wild Bill as well. This and Last Man Standing are 2 of his worst IMO

you know how it is, every director has mediocre flicks on their resume......

I've never seen WILD BILL but always heard it was bad.... Last Man Standing is a decent but thoroughly routine action flick....

"Wild Bill" is way worse than "Last Man Standing" IMO. "Wild Bill" is pretty wretched, particularly the final half.

After reading up on "Play Dirty" and "The Pirates of Blood River", definitely interested in those. With the announcement of "Wild Bill", I have to wonder if TT has Frank Perry's highly underrated "Rancho Deluxe", which came in a DVD double pack with "Wild Bill". I would love that to get a release.

I wouldn't call Wild Bill awful. It's more of an interesting failure for me.

And it does have an excellent performance from Jeff Bridges... and a great supporting cast that help.

If you have seen the HBO series Deadwood, Its very, very close is style and storytelling. I liked Wild Bill, I thought Jeff Bridges as usual, did a fantastic job.

What's frustrating is that the film has an excellent cast and a quality director, but it just never clicks for me. It's certainly Hill at his most experimental stylistically, but lacks the impact of many of his better films IMO.

i asked Mr Lime if Kino would be releasing "Rancho Deluxe" and he said it was with another label. It would be a perfect release for Twilight Time with an isolated Jimmy Buffett score And maybe a commentary from Bridges and Waterston.
