This was discussed a few months ago and they said that wasn't true.

OK. Guess it's just a new sales strategy then.

Yet more discussion on TT's business model...

Anyone else actually ordering?

I picked up The Chase, and In the French Style.

What with the extended B&N Criterion event, and the recent KL site launch sale, it's a great time to be a BD collector.

Just Mad Magician for me.

Kicking myself for the titles I paid full price for in the past without waiting for a sale. Never again...

Is posting what you purchased in the sale your idea of worthwhile discourse?

Well, posting TT titles I bought in a TT sale in a TT thread is hardly earth-shattering. But as a "Blu-ray Guru" you've probably noticed it's the kind of thing that happens in most Studio/Distributor threads around here. And for me, it certainly beats endless rehashes of TT's business model.

It certainly happens, and I wouldn't go out of my way to pick on that type of conversation, but it seemed a bit hypocritical when you were denigrating my current topic of conversation in the very same post.

TT's near-constant sales are a new phenomenon and mark a new chapter for the company; it's not like we were re-hashing why each title is limited to 3000 for the one-millionth time.

Finally, been waiting for Night of the Generals to go on sale for awhile. However, I've moved out of the US (to Singapore) and this is my first time ordering from them since the move and I got a message saying:

Due to frequent packages not arriving to customers in your country they will not replace any lost packages unless I upgrade to a delivery option that's $45 additional to their regular overseas delivery fee, so for the three movies I picked up it would be $56 just for delivery. Though I would get tracking with this option.

Is this just a standard message they give out to anyone shipping outside the US and I should be fine with their normal delivery option?

TT has announced that La Bamba has officially SOLD OUT.

This is another cautionary example of a title that was never on the Low Quantity Alert list before selling out. This has happened with a few titles; for example, Two Rode Together and Steel Magnolias.

La Bamba has been around for three years. The LQA is not perfect but it is all there is to notify customers of what is approaching sell out status. The LQA in the first post of this thread is kept up to date. However, sometimes a title slips through without ever making the list, especially during sales. La Bamba went rapidly today.

Prior to today's sellout and my update of the LQA, the last updated quantity numbers released by TT was June 29. There is no doubt that some of the numbers shown on the LQA have gotten lower since then, but there have been no new numbers released. I would encourage anyone sitting on the fence about a title that has been around for several years, or is on the LQA now, or is a generally recognized popular film, to not wait to the last minute to order expecting there will be a "last call" warning on every title.

Eureka has released it in the UK. Both releases have the same audio commentaries, but the UK release has all the features from the original DVD release. It misses out on the isolated score track on the Twilight Time disc.

The business model discussions are the only interesting ones in this thread. I was originally going to import everything but I'll happily stay a Twilight Time purchaser now with the sales, for the Woody Allen titles alone!
