Maybe, but for a boutique label that lives off a limited edition mantra.. It was a killer.

I ordered all four titles and got the bundle deal of $5.00 off per title for a total of $99.80 plus $10.85 for shipping to Canada.

Apologies in advance if this has been discussed. I'm interested in buying a copy of "9 to 5" on Blu-ray, but I'm not $30 interested. Does Twilight Time ever have general sales for all of their titles, or do they only put selected titles on sale? Any advice on the best way to track down this Blu-ray for a reasonable (< $20) price point?

Thanks!

For what it's worth, I picked up "9 to 5" for $19.95 (plus shipping) last July in a sale on the SAE website.

I'm late to the party tonight, but I just ordered all four with the pre-order bundle sale.

Wild Bill
Play Dirty
Captain from Castile
The Pirates of Blood River

Captain from Castile is the one that I'm flying totally blind into out of these four, but it seems to be a beautiful-looking film.

I don't think they have ever had a sale for the entire line, lately their sales tend to be grouped by the company they licensed the film from. The longer you wait, the cheaper the sale price will be, but bear in the mind the film has a limited run (3000 copies). I think that "9 to 5" is more mainstream than a lot of their releases, so I expect it will sell out more quickly than the average title.

You will not be disappointed by the Captain. Epic sweep, beautiful technicolor, rousing score and great cast. Sure hope Tyrone Power's other epic adventure "The Black Rose" also makes it to Blu-ray courtesy of 20th Century Fox and Twilight Time!

Just wanted to remedy an inaccurate post I made last page.
It was not my Screen Archives shipment of 10 Twilight Time titles that were locked in a Customs dispute. It was my shipment from Amz.uk for the Harryhausen Vol 1 set.
My apologies to any Screen Archives reps that peruse this forum for besmirching their shipping practices.
I received my TT discs, undamaged, in an excellently packaged box today without any interference from Canada Customs.
I express my regrets for jumping to conclusions.

info: My Harryhausen set is enroute with UPS brokering Customs release.
THAT's gonna cost me, sigh.

There is a lot of discussion in the Canadian deals threads about Amazon UK using UPS to ship to Canada and what a pain in the butt they are to deal with thanks to their brokerage fees. I really wish they [Amazon] would stick to using Royal Mail / Canada Post.

Glad to hear your Screen Archives shipment came through OK.

It's just as bad with Amazon.ca shipping to the UK - everything goes DHL, who really screw you for the brokerage and customs charges (Royal Mail charges £8 for 'inspecting' packages - in reality just looking at the value on the shipping label and charging 20% as well - but DHL charge £12 and hold up the package for a couple of weeks for the privilege). t's really not worth ordering from Amazon.ca if you're in the UK unless it's something you can't get from anywhere else.

Apparently, UPS will charge brokerage fees for every import item they handle, even though the vast majority of parcels sent via Royal Mail, USPS, etc. will slip through Canada Customs unmolested even though the limit is only supposed to be $20. So naturally we would rather take our chances with Customs than pay UPS each and every time. I've never had any imports sent via UPS myself, which some people speculate is because all my mail goes to a community mailbox instead of to my door.

Screen Archives are awesome though because they are very Customs friendly, marking a parcel of 6 blu-rays as "CDs, value $5".

They don't.

Unfortunately most buyers and international sellers (even some BIG ones) don't understand the UPS fee schedule. It's complicated and hard to find. Worst of all, it's counter intuitive.

Only UPS Standard shipments will charge a brokerage fee...and understand, the brokerage fee is NOT a government charge...it's a fee charged by UPS for their "work". The government doesn't get the brokerage fee and they don't set it.

Because UPS Standard is the cheapest "up front" cost, most people will chose UPS Standard and most sellers will default to UPS Standard. Who can blame them? It LOOKS cheap and average folks shouldn't be forced to read pdf files of fee schedules.

But, if given the choice, choose ANYTHING other than UPS Standard. The other services include free brokerage. There is a small increase in up front costs but that small extra for the higher level of service is still MUCH cheaper than the brokerage cost. Best bet for a Canadian is UPS WORLDWIDE EXPEDITED. Again, sadly, many sellers a won't offer this and buyers won't choose it because of the arcane UPS fee structure.

UPS WORLDWIDE EXPRESS PLUS, UPS WORLDWIDE EXPRESS FREIGHT, UPS WORLDWIDE EXPRESS SAVER, AND UPS WORLDWIDE EXPEDITED all include free Customs brokerage.

UPS STANDARD (the cheapest up front cost) charges you the brokerage fee...thus becoming the most expensive shipping option!

Go figure!

My bad, thank you for clarifying.

I still think that sticking to the regular postal services is the simplest and most practical option.

This would be true, as long as one has the option. In some instances, it is up to the seller's discretion to elect shipping method. Locally, Amz.ca provides me a choice but if I recall, Amz.uk did not.
Will assuredly pay closer attention to my next shipments however.

Oh, and thanks Dex for the info!

How is this? (no spoilers please). Never seen it. Am intrigued by the prospect of Hill doing Westerns (Have not seen The Long Riders either).

I watched Woody Allen's Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex (But Were Afraid to Ask) a couple of nights ago.
[Show spoiler]First time watching it in many years. I think the last time I saw it was on cable in the early 1990s. I had forgotten almost everything except the final skit where Woody is one of several sp*rms. As funny as that last bit is, my favorite skit was the parody of Italian Art House cinema about the frigid wife. Oh, man....that scene in the restaurant under the table. Me and my girlfriend were practically on the ground from laughter. Another favorite skit was the cross-dressing father. I don't think I stopped laughing during that one.

The movie is a who's-who of familiar stars, including Gene Wilder as a doctor with a taste for (ahem) "lamb chops", elder statesman John Carradine as a mad sex scientist, and Burt Reynolds and Tony Randall as neural traffic controllers in the brain of a man suffering from performance anxiety. Heather McRae is a total hottie and we get to see her and Woody chased by a giant killer boob. A total riot of a film, it's definitely a product of the 1970s and very unlikely it would ever get made today. No complaints from me in the PQ department. It looks grand.

[Show spoiler]I cannot wait for Bananas (from Twilight Time) and Take the Money and Run (from Kino). Watching ETYAWTKAS(BWATA) (whew!) brought back a happy memory from when I was a lad in the mid-1970s and we were returning to the States from living in West Germany. The airplane had earphones that plugged into the armrest and you could choose a variety of listening options from music to comedy. For hours I listened to standup comedy routines, many of them Woody Allen. A lot of the humor went over my head, but enough stuck that I thought he was hilarious. I became a Woody fan from that point on.

EDIT: Lol....after posting this I saw a censored word and wondered what I wrote that was bleeped out. The language filter doesn't like sp*rm.....
[Show spoiler]("and neither does my wife"....rimshot...Thanks, Thanks a lot. You're a great crowd....I'll be here all night)
I still need to purchase this movie. Many fond memories. I mean, is there another movie out there with a rampaging killer boob?

But anyway, I was looking for a thread to post a picture relating to Gene Wilder. After doing a search on "Gene Wilder", this was the first post that came up, so here goes.

I recently became a member of Milwaukee Film (https://mkefilm.org) ... and thought Gene Wilder fans might like to see the T-shirt members received this year. (The connection is that Gene Wilder grew up in Milwaukee). ... A nice little tribute.
