Thanks for the tip there DetroitSquirrel...that SAE sales notice went to the addy I registered with, and hardly use, instead of the one associated with my payments.

Anyhooo...they now have 10 less "rare, out of print, and used" CD soundtracks.

On HTF, Nick Redman confirms Major Dundee will be a 2 disc set:

Hey,BK--a few of the early Sony titles are priced at $34.95 -- Picnic, Pal Joey, Bite the Bullet, Bell, Book & Candle -- all other Blu-rays (including Fox titles) in the catalogue are $29.95, with the exception of the first, The Egyptian, which is $39.95 (and getting close to sold out.) When we first made our deal with Sony we agreed to experiment with 2 price-points -- $34.95 and $29.95 and would eventually settle on one. $29.95 has become the default studio-approved sweet spot, and most, going forward will be at that level. Rare exceptions include Major Dundee which will likely be $34.95 as it is a 2-Blu-ray set, with the restored version on one disc, and the original theatrical cut (never available on DVD) on the other.

Nick.

Not sure if that had been mentioned before. Presumably we'll get the original score on the theatrical cut, and the new score on the restored cut.

Whoa, that's going to be the first 2-disc set. Didn't see that coming.

Never seen Major Dundee, but I'm very much looking forward to it due to its troublesome history. It's going to be great to start with the theatrical cut, and then move on to the new cut and score, and compare, with no previous knowledge or experience of the film.

I just pray and hope the theatrical cut is coming from a similar source as the restored, so the picture quality isn't vastly different.

It should look great. It was supposed to be released this year but the restoration effort was taking longer than expected. I can wait for the powers that be to get this right.

Now, will it be 2 BDs in HD or just the restored version in HD with the theatrical cut being a DVD...or it's still a BD and the theatrical cut is SD, just like on the South Pacific BD where there's 2 BDs but the roadshow version is still SD.

Now we're talking. This is exactly what I was referring to in my post on the NOTLD90 board.

Great way to do Major Dundee, and I'm glad TT held off until it could be done right.

What's so odd about that rdodolak? Just S.O.P for any start-up to reserve a Web domain, whether or not they need it right away. They've still got 3 years to decide whether they actually want to use it.

Major Dundee sounds PROMISING.

I assume the commentary track is a given.

Hoping we can get spoiled on this release with the other DVD extras:

Quote:
Deleted and Extended Scenes and Silent Extended Outtakes

20-minute excerpt from Mike Siegel's documentary Passion & Poetry—The Ballad of Sam Peckinpah

Riding for a Fall featurette

Artwork, promotional stills, promo reel excerpt, and trailers for both the original 1965 release and the 2005 re-release

The commentary for Major Dundee's 2005 restoration will be available...in no small part, because Nick Redman participated in it! The studio was very gracious about releasing that feature to TT.

However, since the original 1965 version was never released on DVD, and is generally reviled as a blatantly sabotaged theatrical release, it is highly unlikely that any commentary exists for it. Which would be unecessary anyway, since the commentary for the restored version covers what went so horribly wrong with the theatrical cut.

I wanted to ask: Have many customers got that 10% discount code?
i have items in my wish list for over a month, but still haven't got any email.

Someone had said, that it works if you hold items in your wish list or cart for over a month.

I received the discount but it was only one time. SAE's discounts appear to be few and far between.
