That's probably because some people (like me) saw the cast and bought it blindly. They don't have much screen time.

Scream & scream again is sold out . I do not think that was announced by twilight time or not ?

SAE low quantity update is

21 x all the kings men remain
24 x cowboy remain
35 x guess who's coming to dinner remain
42 x the big heat remain
47 x the roots of heaven remain

My guess is Twilight samurai , Remains of the day , The train , To sir with love , Hawaii , Stormy weather & Cutters way may be next to go during this sale + possibly Flaming star . Who knows though just my personal guess .

It has a lot of fans and I've seen some positive write-ups, unlike some of his other movies (ex, Dr Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs). I didn't like it much either. It's at least wilder and more creative than the somewhat similar Satanic Rites of Dracula, which is damning with some VERY faint praise

I watched the BD of "Eureka", second time I've seen the film. Gene Hackman plays ruthless, single-minded gold prospector Jack McCann, who comes across a jackpot of gold in a mountain in the Arctic in the mid-1920s. Fast forward 20 years and he's one of the world's richest men living on his own personal island in the Caribbean, with an alcoholic wife (Jane LaPotaire) and a distant daughter (Theresa Russell). His daughter is in love with a smug bon vivant (Rutger Hauer) who despises Hackman. Meanwhile, Hackman is being pressured by a mob boss (Joe Pesci) and his henchman (Mickey Rourke) to give up the island so the mob can develop casinos on it. The film depicts Hackman's increasing paranoia, isolation and depression.

There's a lot to really admire about this film. In fact, the first three-quarters of it are a borderline masterpiece IMO. Unfortunately, the last quarter of the film lets it down. Anyone who has seen it will know what I'm talking about. Director Nicolas Roeg takes a fairly familiar theme (money doesn't equal happiness) and provides an interesting slant on it. Hackman's paranoia and constant need to defend the way he made his money outweigh any potential pleasure he gets from he it. He sits there on the deck of his beachside mansion, a broken man, wallowing in self-pity, paranoia and disgust because he knows what he has will never provide him the thrill of the initial prospecting he did. It explores similar themes as films like "Citizen Kane" and "There Will be Blood".

The performances are uniformly excellent, with Hackman giving his best post-1980 performance along with "Mississippi Burning" and "Unforgiven". He's simply superb. Hauer exudes smarminess as the man taking away his daughter, playing the kind of guy who wants to be seen as an outsider even though he is firmly part of the cultural elite. Russell and LaPotaire are also terrific in their respective roles. Pesci plays kind of an early variation of the roles he would become most famous for and isn't given a ton to do, but this performance kind of serves as a toned-down template of Tommy in "Goodfellas" and Nicky in "Casino".

With Roeg's recent passing, it's worth noting what a talent this man really was. This film is a marvel visually. The scene in which Hackman strikes gold is just brilliantly executed. The mid-1940s detail is done with absolute precision. His ability to tell a story while making it seem off-kilter, but not tipping fully into surrealism, was consistent in his early work. Roeg's first seven films ("Performance" through "Insignificance") are all highly worth checking out or revisiting. I'm even a fan of his bizarre "Track 29" with Gary Oldman, which is one of the strangest films of the 80s. With the TT sale going on and this film on sale, I highly recommend checking "Eureka" out if you're even a slight fan Roeg's work.

I finally picked up a copy of that DVD in one of the recent ebay sales. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but it was more than a year of casual auction watching until I found a price I was happy with. There are fewer and fewer movies that I strongly believe won't get a blu release, but that seems like a good bet.

It's a really weird, dark film. Great performances by Oldman and Theresa Russell. Christopher Lloyd plays a model train fanatic surgeon who gets spanked by his nurse, played by Sandra Bernhard. That's just a little preview of what's in store.

I don't think I've even heard of this film for some reason... but you've sold me on it since I'm a big fan of Hackman's work.

At the time it was Roeg's biggest budget film, got a fairly big push before it was about to be released when it was considered an awards contender, got its release pushed back and then was promptly yanked from the few theaters it opened at and disappeared for several years when no-one would even speak of it due to a libel lawsuit (the film is based on the murder of Sir Harry Oakes, for which no-one was successfully convicted, and the film may change the names but makes no bones about who it thinks was involved - who just happened to still be alive at the time). It did get a very, very limited arthouse reissue once that was resolved but disappeared quickly after that until it cropped up on DVD.

The first third is among the best work Roeg's done: the second two thirds are an indication of which way his career and work was heading. On one level its problem is that it's about a man whose life peaks early and the film reflects that on a first viewing because nothing is as intoxicating as the delirious scene where he discovers the gold, but on a second viewing those last two thirds work a lot better. In many ways it's the closest Roeg ever got to making a Citizen Kane: it's not on that level, but it's an intriguing study of self-destruction when a man has everything and nothing. It's the kind of film that would make a great double-bill with Under the Volcano, another film that works better on a second viewing.

Default February 2019 Twilight Time Release Schedule

Here are the Twilight Time release announcements for February 2019, courtesy of the Home Theater Forum. As always, out of respect for HTF's exclusive announcement window, I will not be updating the first post of this thread until TT makes an official announcement later today.

THE ADMIRABLE CRICHTON (1957) BLU-RAY - February 19th

BEDAZZLED (1967) BLU-RAY - February 19th

WILL SUCCESS SPOIL ROCK HUNTER? (1957) BLU-RAY - February 19th

TALK RADIO (1988) BLU-RAY - February 19th

Raquel Welch!!

NOTE: The Admirable Crichton (1957), based on a play of the same name by J.M. Barrie, is about an Edwardian-era English aristocrat, his family, and servants who are all shipwrecked on a desert island where survival makes the class system meaningless. It was released in the USA under the title Paradise Lagoon. Supposedly the title was changed in the States because the distributors feared if they used the original title people would think the movie was about a naval officer....lol.

I was hoping after Eureka released "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter" this in the UK that TT would release this in North America. I will be pre-ordering this one. Also, will get Bedazzled too though I don't think it will be a Day 1 preorder.

"Talk Radio" is great news, that just leaves "The Hand" until all of the Stone directed features are out on Blu.

Great announcements. Definitely will pick up "Talk Radio", one of Stone's best, and "Bedazzled". Already have the Eureka of "Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?", but that film is a real treat and glad to see it's getting a North American release. "The Admirable Crichton" looks really intriguing as well.

I happened to catch The Admirable Crichton on TCM some time back and......what a delightful surprise! Just one of those films you start watching and by the time it’s over you have a smile on your face and you’re sorry that it had to end. A very charming film.
Just a slight correction: The American title was Paradise Lagoon.

Yes. The TT Insider stated awhile back they have a Universal deal and will release a “handful” of titles.

That's good news for me on Talk Radio. Just this week on my way into work I thought of Talk Radio and how I never did get around to seeing it, though it looked like a movie that would very much interest me. I decided right then I was going to look into whether it had gotten a Blu-ray release (and then forgot to do so). Looking forward to this release.
