and THE SEVEN-UPS.....

I ordered both of these on the 6 Dec - so let's see if they will be fulfilled.

Edit.....both fulfilled before going out of stock

Is that the quickest sell out since "Moby Dick"? I honestly wouldn't have expected it to sell out in twice as much time, which is not a commentary on the film, just the speed at which TT titles usually sell out. I guess it's a higher interest title than I was aware.

It’s still available to purchase on SAE.

Hmmm, maybe I'm not the only one who likes it a lot more than The French Connection.....

Anyone received their November 2018 titles? They sent out an email over a week ago stating that "November titles are now shipping." If no one else has received the titles, I don't want to bother them since I'm sure others have!

I received The True Story of Jesse James earlier this week from Twilight Time. Oklahoma Crude from Screen Archives delivering tomorrow. I did not purchase Antony and Cleopatra.

How long does it usually take to get one of the $2 coupon e-mail offers from the Twilight Time website after you place an order and write a review?

I get them a minute or two after the review is posted.

The car chase combines the best elements of "Bullitt" and "The French Connection".

I think it's actually very different and in its way more influential on subsequent cop movies. Where they had centred on evasive driving where the point was not to crash into anything, this is pure demolition derby stuff where the intent is to cause as much damage to other cars (especially ones not involved in the chase) as possible. Unlike the more outrageous stunts that would be introduced the following year in Freebie and the Bean this keeps it more grounded and within the realms of possibility, but it certainly blazed a trail for Burt Reynolds et al.

I've been slowly going through my sale order and I got around to watching "The Hot Rock"; what a great hidden gem. Redford and Segal have great chemistry and that Quincy Jones score is fantastic. It was neat surprise seeing a minor Christopher Guest appearance.

Agreed. I didn't pick it up (but will soon), but saw it recently as well. A really terrific heist film. Showed off William Goldman's skill as a writer too, some great but subtle character development and the heists are great too. I was afraid the heists would feel repetitive due to the film's premise, but they didn't.

The police precinct heist was my favorite one. Not to mention Redford's monologue about getting the Stone no matter what.

There's no way I like it better than the original French Connection, but I do like it much better than French Connection II.

I also liked seeing the shots of the Twin Towers under construction. The first time I saw this film was on DVD was in 2002 so seeing that was more significant then.

The movie itself is a lot of fun. It was one of my most anticipated releases from Twilight Time (along with the Seven-Ups) after I asked about it on Facebook and they told me it was coming probably at least a year before it actually dropped. Everything about it just works.

If you are interested, you might also want to check out Bank Shot, which is on blu-ray from Kino. It's based on another one of Donald Westlake's Dortmunder novels. A lot of people don't like it, but I do although I fully acknowledge it's far inferior to Hot Rock.

It's definitely a haunting image, heck just the helicopter shots in general are a nice time capsule of Manhattan. I'll definitely consider "Bank Shot" during the next Kino sale (Should it be discounted). It's a shame "The Hot Rock" didn't do so great at the box office because it's a good time.

Ordered The Train for my retired train engineer brother-in-law for Christmas. Seemed like a bit of a no-brainer gift idea. I mean how could he not like it?
