Coupon codes are still honored. From the email:
"We are no longer offering coupons for future orders in exchange for reviews on the site. Any coupon code you were previously issued for a review is still valid." I do have a list of titles I would buy at the $10 range, but if they keep them at $15 and don't intend to drop them any further~I'd pass on them. So I'm still on wait and see as far as the sale prices go... |

I think the only title that dropped under 50 on SAE during the sale was Scorpio. (hariseldon would know for sure)
Either most people are buying directly from TT or the cart trick is not 100% working. I'm surprised that something like How to Steal a Million, that sold out like 2 weeks ago on TT, still has 50+ copies on SAE. |

I'm really tempted to place an order, but will probably wait it out and see if another price slash occurs at some point down the line, especially considering that the titles I'm most interested in don't appear to be in any danger of selling out soon. At ~$17 a pop (w/shipping) its's pretty hard for me to justify. If the $15 price point titles hit $10 or even $12 eventually, then I will be in for a pretty big order.

Also, for The Hot Rock specifically, I found it by typing "hot rock". If you type "The Hot Rock" it won't work either. |

If I'm on the site to just look for something, I don't bother to log into my account, and the search function doesn't work as it should. If I log in, though, it seems to work fine.

Although it's the same director and star and they are all murder mysteries, don't go into The Detective expecting something similar to the Tony Rome films. Those are fun, light-hearted romps while the Detective is a serious police procedural which tackles police brutality and coercion, homophobia, as well the martial and sexual troubles between the main character and his wife. Some elements of the film's attitudes to social issues are a little bit dated (naturally) but it's still a good, hard-hitting movie. |

Another strong recommendation for The Detective, which several of us enthusiastically discussed a few months back. Here was my intro to it:
I wanted to throw a bone to The Detective which, while campy in some areas, is a fairly mature police drama for its time with an excellent lead performance from Sinatra. He's aided by the ethereal and impossibly-gorgeous Lee Remick, arguably my favorite actress. As far as random, knock-you-on-your-ass movie trivia goes, the novelist's (Roderick Thorpe) follow-up novel was turned into...Die Hard. It's a "going fast" title on TT's website, and it's more than worth picking up at that price point. |

I picked up Model Shop and the Hot Rock earlier during the March period of the sale and they are both damn good films. I recommend either one.

Lee Remick is also a real favorite of mine, just a wonderful actress and an incredibly beautiful woman. I recently saw her in two lesser-known films ("A Severed Head" and "A Delicate Balance") in two completely different roles and she absolutely knocked both parts out of the park. She and Gena Rowlands are two actresses from that era I will watch in anything.

I always said that if I could recast Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in an alternate universe, I'd choose Burt Lancaster and Lee Remick (who coincidentally co-starred in The Hallelujah Trail, which I haven't seen and don't have much interest in.) |
