Not quite deltasun. For sure, there were SAE magnets for both Cover Girl and Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines. But I can't recall any after that other than those 'luck of the draw' surplus magnets from other slower selling titles, or that generic masthead magnet showing the all (or most) of the TT collection.

Well... then I will try to sell them (or trade them) I guess.
I will put them in my sale thread

Well Fright Night and Mysterious island will get you 10 to 15 for sure, I have seen it myself. Journey may as well.....I wouldn't count on Pal Joey or Desiree though. However you could always liste them and see what happens.

Why not offer it for trade here? The 1000 magnet allotment for Mysterious Island went pretty fast, so a lot of later buyers didn't get one. Bet you can at least swap it for a decent catalogue Blu-ray.

You're right!

If someone wants the magnets that I have, then let's trade!

I have:
Mysterious Island, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Fright Night, As Good as it Gets and The Big Heat

I will easily trade them for one of my wants:

[Show spoiler]The Stepfather (original)
Chesty Morgan's Bossom Buddies
6 Films High Powered Action Vol 1 (Echo Bridge)
Beyond the Black Rainbow
Cellular (US)
The Expendables 2 (with slipcover)
Ice Station Zebra
Network
The Opening of Misty Beethoven
Savages (with slipcover)
The Score (Frank Oz with Edward Norton)
Silent Night (2012)

I have an address in the US if necessary

Well I remember the Fright Night Magnet was sold for 15, if you want to dig through a million pages in the Fright Night thread then you will find it. There was also a poster who said he bought a mysterious island magnet for 15. Keep an eye on Ebay, you will see them pop up once in a while and they go for 10 or 15.

Pre-ordered EXPERIMENT IN TERROR yesterday. However, there wasn't a hold on my bank account for the amount of the disc like there usually is. Anyone else experienced the same thing?

Does the charge usually remain there until it gets shipped?

No, they hold it for about 5 days then charge you when it ships.

See that's why I use Paypal. They take the money right away and I never have to worry about it again. If for some reason something happens they just refund your money.

That sounds like the 'masthead' magnet I've been receiving lately too P@t. And man, was it a surprise to see my own box from SAE arrive from today! "Joyeux Noël!!"

First up for me was Beloved Infidel, which I just finished. Although I'd never seen this movie, its subject - the last days of F. Scott Fitzgerald and his rocky romance with Sheilah Graham - has always fascinated me. I think both The Last Tycoon (Paramount) and Tender is the Night (Fox) would make terrific companion pieces for this, unfortunately neither is available on Blu-ray (yet). But even without that extension of the background story, this movie still played very well, narrative messiness notwithstanding (art-mirroring-life-mirroring-art...just one of the pitfalls of bio...never 'neat'). Once again though, we're dealing with Adler-era 'Scope, so the picture and sound were mixed positive with generally well preserved and transferred elements throughout. The site grades more or less jibe with my own, although I'm a bit more forgiving of the 'buttery' De Luxe colour from the late 50s. That look was not just a video colorist's choice, those movies originally looked like that.

My biggest praise though was for Deborah Kerr; she really had her work cut out holding such a patchwork tale together, what with all the telescoping of time and events...between some scenes, the jump was days, with others it was weeks, and even months. Much like The Sound and the Fury and The Wayward Bus, this kind of title won't appeal to everyone. It was very much of its era...absolutely fascinating for anyone interested in late career F. Scott Fitzgerald, or fans of Peck and Kerr, or just lost 'Scope films in their OAR. Beyond that, ya takes yer chances.

For anyone curious about the real Sheilah Graham, here is her late 50s appearance on the old "What's My Line?" TV show following the release of her book Beloved Infidel:

And for any old fogies here who still fondly remember that show, here's one of its all time funniest non-celebrity contestants: Peter J. Lomagiestro.

Up next: Lost Horizon...

My latest Twilight Time order arrived the other day and the first thing I checked, of course was THE BLUE LAGOON -- at least all of the unusually generous supply of bonus features plus most of the movie with the first commentary. Amazing-looking picture quality, pretty much what I remember from seeing it in 1980, and the commentary adds a lot more to appreciate about the film. And while the acting may not be great, it's certainly appropriate for the characters and situation.

I'll probably watch THE RAINS OR RANCHIPUR in early January a couple of weeks from now, as an antidote to the mid-winter cold (not to mention Olive's TAXI FOR TOBRUK and films like SOUL SURFER and SALMON FISHING IN THE YEMEN, and maybe even THE BLUE LAGOON). I plan to hold off on BELOVED INFIDEL until I can run it as a second feature with the upcoming Blu-ray of the 1974 version of THE GREAT GATSBY. If it's anywhere close to THE WAYWARD BUS, which I really liked a lot, or THE SOUND AND THE FURY, which I found more than satisfactory, I'll be happy with it.

As I try to run at least semi-related double-features most of the time, BONJOUR TRISTESSE is one I may hold off to run with either some other Preminger or Jean Seberg movie (haven't yet ordered Olive's Preminger collection, mainly because the films seem to be his lesser works). Maybe it's time to look at BREATHLESS again or revisit AIRPORT.
