Oh definitiely rdodolak. I can only skim the highlights of TT's Facebook wall because I don't have an account, but very little of importance gets missed...someone invariably posts that info here too, often within minutes. Plus SAE always pins those announcements to their landing page, which is where I'm more likely to see them anyway.

Even when that "500 remaining" announcement does go up, you still have some time...it's more of a "heads up". Unless the title happens to be a fast burner like Fright Night or NOTLD '90, its remaining stock takes several days or weeks to totally sell out. If I recall correctly, both Journey and Mysterious Island took several weeks or more to exhaust their remaining stock. And the Egyptian's announcement was...what...like 3 weeks ago, and yet that title is still available, winding down steadily, but slowly (it's practically a given that a $39.95 or $34.95 title isn't going to fly out the door as fast as a $29.95 title). The only danger is that we've now proven how unreliable SAE's cart count can be, corroborated by TT themselves; I mean, even as the Egyptian's "less than 500" announcement was being published, it still showed nearly 650 via SAE's cart. Same deal with Journey / Mysterious island - one or both of which still showed over 100 in stock even as the final sellout announcement was being posted!

Personally, if it was a TT Blu-ray I really wanted, I wouldn't run it anywhere near that close to the line. Too much of a crapshoot.

Well, they're all Columbia/Sony titles jetthead. With Hugo Montenegro and Lalo Shifrin scores, which might be fun to hear isolated. Although Sony did release a Matt Helm DVD box set back in 2005, I think those were all transferred full screen, so if TT did go after any of them, they would certainly be filling a product gap in terms of OAR. My recollection of this series was very uneven though...I'm sure hardcore fans and collectors would want all of them, but were all of them good enough? Anyone seen that Helm box set? How many of them even had HD-calibre transfers?

I wouldn't rule out Helm-redux as a possiblity though...it probably just depends on how well TT does with the Flint movies. But this is one case where I would actually prefer a label like Mill Creek to step in, offering all 4 Helm movies on 2 double feature Blu-rays. Not all 60s catalogue titles or series warrant TT's showcase treatment.

I must admit that I'm a huge Dean Martin fan so that may be one of the reasons for my affection for the Matt Helm movies.

I wasn't implying that I wanted TT to release those movies but just that I'd like to see them on Blu-ray. As long as Mill Creek released them with decent PQ/AQ & in their OAR , I'd be satisfied.

I'm glad that the announcements get reposted here, because even though I signed up for the mailing list, for some reason I don't get any email from SAE/TT.

I recently signed up for the mailing list again using a different email carrier, so hopefully that one will work. (Now I just have to remember to check it now and then, as it isn't my main email source).

I just posted this under Hollywood and Celebrities. The Oscar-nominated English composer of such music scores as those in Nicholas and Alexandra, Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, died on Christmas Eve.

I bought the Sony 2005 Matt Helm set (Phil Karlson directed two of them) and the transfers were 1.85:1 anamorphic, they looked fine. Due to the use of color in these they would certanly look pretty nice in Blu.

So once again the video specs on Amazon are not to be trusted 100%. Thanks for correcting that DJANGO!

personally I never use Amazon's specs whan looking at anything at all. I always try to find another site. It's really too bad that the mot popular shopping site can't have the discipline to ensure accurate facts about the products they sell.

...especially since Amazon owns the IMDb! What's their excuse???

So you're smart to check the vid specs on other sites first Scooter, including this one. I just never seem learn...

Darn. I was hoping they'd be full-frame. Back when I was a teenager, I got Columbia's Super 8 one-reel black-and-white sound abridgement of THE SILENCERS. There's a bedroom scene with a girl wearing nothing but a shirt and for about a second of screen time you can tell she really is wearing nothing but the shirt -- hot stuff for a teenager. When I finally saw the entire film a few years ago, in 35mm and beautiful full color (gorgeous print, by the way, which should look great on Blu-ray), it was naturally run at 1.85, literally cropping the bottom off the picture! Too bad my old 8mm print is long gone.
