Indeed.

As was the case for the Cubs playoff game I got to attend and the Bulls/Heat conference finals game the year Derrick Rose won MVP.

The only value they have for the next month and a half would be for titles that disappear from TTM.
The main value they have is they are currently the sole owner of approx 120 (and increasing) titles.

I think the big scalper advantage is that many people who go crazy over "Clearanced OOS Going out of Business OOP" labels Ebay throws onto them is many BD buyers to this day have no idea about TTM or SAE websites and have been paying Ebay or Marketplace 40-300% markups for instock discs even during sales. There are long time members of this forum who occasionally have shown up in the last year or two who never heard of the 2 sites that sell TT discs

If it's not on Amazon it just doesn't exist in their minds.

I think a few Indie B&M stores could probably do OK as long as they don't try to sell them for $50 ea. Many of their customers who may not like to shop from the Internet rely on the Owner/Employee recommendations and seeing it in person kicks in a buyers reflex. I think there are quite a few reports even in this thread of seeing groups of New TT disc on the shelf at various Local or Region type Movie Stores.

I actually don't have as much problem with those type stores as the pure Ebay huckster scalpers. That's the typical Overstock Stores business. I'm actually thinking some of the Bulk Buyers pillaging the inventory don't understand that another store will still have TT Disc in stock to sell are "normal" or normal sale prices. They see TT closing shop and clearancing discs thinking they'll soon have the monopoly on a bunch of titles, but if SAE did actually control 1/3-1/2 the remaining stock in March, they still have a ton of merchandise which is going to cap any planned gold-mine in the near future other than preying on those who don't know about SAE. I'm just not sure how TT/SAE contractually divvied up the 3000 disc/release.

It's a pity that Winner didn't make more westerns, because as much criticism as he gets I think he was a pretty competent filmmaker when he wanted to be.

Also a pity that a more updated scan couldn't be used, since the TT Blu-ray looks pretty rough.
I thought Lawman was good, but nothing special. If it's still around in a month or two for a cheap price, I might pick it up but seeing that it's an MGM title, I am less panicked about buying it simply because I could see another label like Kino picking up it. For me this blowout sale has been about grabbing as much Fox product as I can.

I guess I’m finally done, my last buy including what I’m sure for many will seem a strange choice. It came down to THE GLORY GUYS or BENEATH THE TWELVE MILE REEF. Well, after some consideration, I chose REEF. But this is what might make it seem strange: I already have the TT Blu of REEF in my collection. After reading everything I could on GLORY GUYS, I just couldn’t get into it and so chose instead to buy a BACKUP copy of REEF, which is one of my favorites and quite simply one of the most beautiful Blu-rays I’ve ever seen. Strange? You decide.
I ordered a back up copy of Who'll Stop The Rain- a top ten favorite for me.
You would think odds would be someone would release it in the UK at some point, but I don't want to take that chance.

If BFI or Indicator ever does though, I'm sure I'll order that one too.

Some films are like that for buffs like us. I know things like Jaws and Alien (also big faves) will always be available and relatively easy to replace. It's the deeper catalog stuff that worries me.

What are some of the Fox titles still available?

I ordered 13 titles the other day, I currently have 5 more in my cart, not sure if I will pull the trigger. Any opinions on The Chase, ( already saw a glowing opinion of Beneath the 12 Mile Reef), Bandolero, Broken Lance and The Rivers Edge?

Farewell Twilight Time! Placed most likely my last order on their side a moment ago. During the last three years I ordered exactly 60 titles including my recent order below. And I should have a total of 82 TT BDs now in my collection. Got almost everything I wanted. Murphys Law sold out, before I could order it, though and sadly no replacement clear cases were left. Would have loved to buy a few of those, too.

1 × Anastasia (Blu-ray)
1 × Suddenly, Last Summer (Blu-ray)
1 × Beneath The 12-Mile Reef (Blu-ray)
1 × Captain From Castile (Blu-ray)
1 × My Gal Sal (Blu-ray)
1 × Genghis Khan (Blu-ray)
1 × Revolt of Mamie Stover, The (Blu-ray)
1 × Adventures of Hajji Baba, The (Blu-ray)
1 × Sword of Sherwood Forest (Blu-ray)
1 × Antony and Cleopatra (Blu-ray)
1 × Oklahoma Crude (Blu-ray)
1 × Baby the Rain Must Fall (Blu-ray)
1 × 10 North Frederick (Blu-ray)
1 × Tall Men, The (Blu-ray)

"The Chase" and "Broken Lance" are great, "The Chase" is a real personal favorite of mine. "Bandolero" is a solid late Jimmy Stewart Western and "The River's Edge" is a flawed but highly enjoyable film with Milland and Quinn squaring off. Those four are easy recommends at sale prices.

I agree. I wish we could have gotten even more of her Fox movies released on blu-ray before Disney bought Fox. Besides the titles released by Twilight Time, there's blu-rays of How To Marry A Millionaire (Fox), Coney Island (Fox Cinema Archives), The Beautiful Blonde From Bashful Bend (Kino) and I Wake Up Screaming (Kino). There are also a few available digitally in HD that didn't get a blu-ray release: My Blue Heaven, Down Argentine Way, The Shocking Miss Pilgrim, and That Lady In Ermine.

The Chase has also an Indicator Release. I quite liked TT, but Indicator is just in another league if you ask me.

Broken Lance is exceptional! I’ve owned this since it came out and previously owned the DVD. It’s like a Western take on King Lear and is beautifully acted and lenses. You won’t regret it. I’ve loved this film for decades.

Yeah, yet another Indicator disc that piledrives its TT counterpart.

Yeah, I've already purchased a few backup copies of Fox titles. Tony Rome is the one that worried me the most because if that disc fails, that's two movies gone.

I have all of the previous Fox DVD sets and the MOD of Coney Island. I also have Millionaire as well and her one Columbia picture with Jack Lemmon “Two for the Show”. Just getting them on DVD was quite a wait back in the day. I never thought her 40s musicals would make the Blu-ray format until TT saw the wisdom of releasing 2! I’m grateful for these two ...along with Kino’s The Beautiful Blonde of Bashful Bend and I Wake Up Screaming.

Just keep in mind while it may be tempting for $6-$12, don't buy a movie you otherwise would not simply because it's Fox and going OOP possibly forever. At the end of the day if you find a movie humdrum today you probably will feel the same 6 months from now.

I already made an initial order, but I don't get paid until the 15th, so I can't make another order until then. Anybody else stressing that their wish-list titles are going to be sold out before they can order?

One word explanation: Indicator.

Has anybody here seen Woman Obsessed? Premise sounds interesting, but that DVD has been around forever. Wasn't sure if that's because it's SD, or because the movie sucks.
