it was savaged by critics upon release and a flop at the box office. I've never seen it but for $6.95 I figured that the sets and costumes, along with James Caan and Michael Caine... would have some entertainment value.

count me as another who liked The Long Hot Summer. there's an interview w/ Woodward and Newman on the disc, too, that I enjoyed. Newman does this type of flirty thing with Woodward during the conversation that made me think, "man, Newman still had "it" at an old age." character, confidence, charisma.

I thought Welles was fine, too, based on what I remember.

So, if there's anything you still want, pull the trigger now or regret it later. I don't think that most of these titles will last until the end of the month.

I'm already second guessing my choice to order from TWILIGHT versus SCREEN ARCHIVES.
I don't mind waiting either but I'm a little concerned about the possibility of not getting a title.. and then having that title sell out at Archives as well during the wait.

They are fulfilling orders in the order that they were received. If you have an order confirmation with the titles you wanted there is no reason to believe you are not going to get them.

I did get a confirmation, and nothing has been refunded to my card so hopefully it's all good.

It amazed me that The Long, Hot Summer beat Cat on a Tin Roof to the theaters by a few months. Even though it's based on several Faulkner works, it feels like Tennessee Williams in so many ways (right down to Welles' blustery, exaggerated "Big Daddy") that I always assumed it was an imitation piggy-back.

Again, not nearly as sophisticated as Cat but it's a really fun movie summer movie.

[Show spoiler]Franciosa's heart-to-heart with Welles is a pretty touching scene; it's too bad the resolution of their fractured relationship is so, frankly, idiotic

Yeah, I got this email, too. Ordered late on Sunday night EST, but my guess is many, many made it before I did!

The +$500 discount was there since they started the Close-Out sale.

Inventory tolerance level discrepancies are an unfortunate reality of any retail operation. Those getting refunded for ordered titles that aren't in stock were likely the very last to get orders in before the tolerance level was hit, and the physical inventory came up short. Hopefully it doesn't happen to too many people, but it is inescapable and probably won't be discovered until right when the final discs of a title are being pulled to fulfill the order.

I only own a handful of TT titles, most of them have gotten released elsewhere later on, but some have yet to be (Breaking away; The Vanishing 1993 remake); some others are the best releases so far (Buddy Holly Story; Wild Bill -because of the English subs). I would have gotten Talk Radio too, but the inexplicable lack of English subs has stopped me (that's an exceptionally rich, formidable screenplay, I'm afraid I couldn't keep up without).

So I am grateful for what this label gave us, and very sad to hear the news.
I'm afraid physical media decline will be greatly accelerated by what's happening.

Updating the low quantity titles remaining from twilight time . The criteria I am using is to be on this list there must be 200 units or less . All are under that at the time of this post .

I must have missed it, then. Of course, I don't think there's $500 worth of titles left that I don't already own.

So given the opportunity of this sale, I picked up a "few" titles that I thought might interest me, mostly from TT but a few from SAE...

Looking forward to them arriving, hopefully all will arrive safely, I have some watching to do

Love this post! So nice to see someone opening up their imagination and embarking on an adventure to fill their soul with new discoveries. I get so tired of people who adamantly refuse to ever explore anything from before they were born and venture out of their babied comfort zone. And even worse, take some perverse pride in it. If we truly only live once, why would you ever want to impose limitations on any art form which might not just enhance your existence, but change it for the better? I will never get that.

So, Brandon, enjoy your new adventure. You made some great film choices, but even more, a life choice that may pay you back in immeasurable and invaluable dividends. Your safari is only just beginning!

I have to say that I had to read the deal on 10 for 115.- multiple times to see if there was a mistake, typo, or was just an incredibly low discount. Basically it's less than 0.5% discount if you buy ten titles. I guess one needs to consider the fact that the sale price is already a super deal.

It's 3.7% - your decimal point is in the wrong place, but yeah.. I get what you're saying.

Is it normal to not receive an order confirmation e-mail when checking out as a guest when ordering direct from twilighttimemovies?

If this is true then a title that was still for sale at least 2hrs after I placed my order should not have been cancelled and refunded to me. Whatever though, I am getting lots of other good films so I won't get too hung up on it.

I placed one last small order for two titles and then compared my order number from Sunday to my order number today. There's a gap of over 7000 between the two numbers, so they really have been swamped since the sale went live.
