So a small order I had made from Screen Archives before this latest flurry of excitement arrived yesterday. Included was a backup copy of The Seven Ups which I watched tonight. One of my favourite 70s cop flicks with one of the best car chases ever committed to film. It’s still available at SAE and I encourage anyone who likes that type of film to grab it, it’s a stellar release of a stellar film.

We regret to inform you that we do not have stock to fulfill your complete order. We are planning on removing the unavailable title(s) from your order and will refund the purchase price of those titles. If there was a promotional pricing dependent on that title, we will honor that pricing applied to the rest of your order. Please allow 72 hours for the credit to be applied... (and various other nice words about "being patient with us" due to the large volume of orders...then they list your title) In my case, the lost title didn't apply to that discount, but they're being very cool about that, anyway. I'm guessing that a few others here will receive a similar note or two soon... |

I saw all that early today and was not to happy to see that . I think they are trans shipping many of the titles from SAE to Twilight Time not in huge numbers but smaller amounts here and there . They are not fully turning the company over till July 1st I believe so this might be there way of maximizing all the sales they can get because for all we know they make more money via what they can get selling at their site than liquidating to SAE . Who knows ??? |

Besides, what upside would that be to SAE? Let TTM sell them for lower prices, and burn through stock that SAE could sell later on for more money? If TTM sells out of, say, Anne of the Thousand Days and doesn't restock, it's to SAE's benefit, because people who want that film will have to go to SAE to buy it instead. There's also the fact that the "returning" titles have no "Add to Cart" buttons. Which means that no one can put them into their cart, which means they can't be sold. |

I'm guessing it all is just a web glitch and will fix itself So far none of the re-added titles have allowed any extra orders. No skin off anyone's nose if do claw back some titles from SAE unless the feeling is that SAE will do better than this current deal which I'm not particularly hopeful |

And Richard Dix ... absolutely! Among my favorites are Hell's Highway, The Lost Squadron, The Public Defender, and Ace of Aces. And of course, he was great in Cimarron. |

Both of these films are "niche" titles. Three Coins in the Fountain was filmed on location in Rome and was made during a period when "women's pictures" were kind of a craze again in the 1950s. Twentieth Century-Fox pretty much held the market on these films with this film, "Love is a Many Splendored Thing" among a group of films. International filming became suddenly a hot commodity and lots of studios took advantage. If romantic melodramas a not your thing, this film would likely not be enjoyable. Its a product of its time. Personally I enjoy this film for its stellar cast, including one of my favorite actresses Dorothy McGuire. |
