You're asking if a company whose website has the looks and functionality of a 1997 Geocities fansite will be making the leap to 4K.

I highly doubt it.

Interesting. But I think "reprint rights of limited titles" will probably just mean whatever titles/deals that TT had that aren't already expired by either specific print-run or date designations. I.E. there may be a clause in these contracts whereby they can "request" a further reprint of limited amounts, which of course they did before on a few titles.

Haha!

And yeah, I doubt it would be any new titles. Probably just means that some of the titles that is capped at 3,000 probably didn’t immediately press all 3,000 and SAE will continue to print them until that cap is up.

Yeah, wishful thinking. But if the respective studios made 4k masters maybe there would be a tiny hope

Could actually be making the transition backwards to re-releasing titles on VHS.

4K -- I doubt it as well

Rant about the website:
[Show spoiler]If you means the website works wonderfully with little unnecessary barrage of stuff to assault the customer (other than the search function), I agree. I wish far more websites took the SAE approach and allowed the web site to just work. It take me 20% of time to do the same amt of work on the SAE site vs TT site. 10 clicks to do the work of 1. I truly despise NEW UPDATED websites that just make things harder and are mainly designed to maximize mouse clicks and page loads rather than efficiency

I need information on the title and an order button. I want the ability to see 100 or 250 items on a page (not 16). I don't need 40 videos and dancing clowns, and 40 advertisements per page. I want to be able to move items from my Shopping Cart to wishlist and back again in seconds, not minutes.

I don't think there will be new titles but I do interpret what the e-mail said as being that they could bring back some popular, OOP titles in more limited runs so something that sold well and was popular could have another run of 1000 copies. Who knows though, time will tell. It would be waste for them to enter into this "deal" if all it means is that Screen Archives have the privilege of trying to offload surplus copies of Save Your Legs and Rita Sue and Bob Too.

It means that that's possible, but I don't know how likely it is. It will depend on the wording in the contracts that TT had with the studios. The original contracts (as far as we know) specified a 3000-copy limit. Keep in mind that when TT did their encore editions, they had to go back to the studios and sign a new contract with them to release a "new" edition, which essentially amounted to pressing another 3000 copies. So SAE would need to go back to Sony, and enter a new contract with them to release, for example, an Encore² Edition of Fright Night. I certainly don't imagine, under this scenario, that we'll ever see new/reprinted editions of any of the Fox titles.

One of the things that's unclear in that announcement is whether SAE is acquiring the Twilight Time trademark, either outright, or just as a licensed property. It doesn't seem to be the case, but who knows?

Or when a car is careening down a hill because the villain cut the brake lines. No one thinks of slamming the gear shift into first (or, in an automatic, into "park"). It might destroy your transmission, and might cause severe injury, and might not stop the car completely, but if it means you're not hurtling down a mountain road at excessive speed, it might save your life.

I'm on the side that TT will not release or re-release or re-press another round of discs. I think TT as it has existed is gone other than current stock.

I'm not sure or Why the Press Release needed to exist, but I suspect it;s less than it initially appears and essentially just restates from the SAE end what we've already heard from TT

As I understand it, the 3000-copy restriction was tied into the cost of the license. So, yes, going back to press would require a contract renegotiation, unless the studio lawyers were completely incompetent.

Amen -- preach it, brother! Navigating the Twilight Time website is an exercise in frustration and wasted time ... especially since they've added back in all the out-of-stock titles, which means more pages of nothing-at-all to click through. I prefer seeing all the Twilight Time product on a little more than 2 pages and viewing 100 titles at a time!

That's a Fox title, which means that SAE would have to contract with Disney. Don't hold your breath.

Yep! How about those old movies, like MARNIE, where ample use of rear screen projection during driving scenes reveals that Sean Connery is actually driving with the shift in park.

I agree. Maybe someday Indicator will release a "Jack Lemmon At Columbia" set with the titles you mentioned plus Good Neighbor Sam, Under The Yum Yum Tree, The Notorious Landlady, Operation Mad Ball, You Can't Run Away From It, Three For The Show, and The Wackiest Ship In The Army.

Good point. I think there is a Spanish Blu Ray of Emperor of the North, but I don't know about the quality.

I was about to say it's probably a bootleg of the TT release (many of those were released in Spain) but this one was released by the legit label Divisa. However, Divisa is also known for applying lots of DNR to their transfers, so I would tread carefully with this one.
