You're right, Jay! Of course, concerns over helping to feed my family will never equal that of my anxiety over wondering if my Blu of MOTHER WORE TIGHTS is going to get canceled or not.

I will admit that the recent direction of this once great thread has yielded one benefit: It's really added to my IGNORE list here. Pretty soon I'll have so many people on my list I will win the prize Blu-ray.com is giving out. Watch out, that pony will be mine! Everyone else, just be happy with your participation trophies.

Agree 100%. People who want to compartmentalize discussion on a forum because they only want to hear about certain aspects of the subject being discussed should really find something else to do.

Well, my SAE order shipped which is good news. Will finally watch Geronimo. Not expecting my Twilight Time order to ship soon, but it would be nice if it happened in the next few weeks.

It's okay, I've got plenty at home already that I use for "other things". Anyone else looking forward to the Vinegar Syndrome sale this weekend?

Well, as Dorothy Parker once said, "Take care of the luxuries and the necessities will take care of themselves."

I'm hoping mine will ship by this weekend. Someone in the thread at HTF said that his 74xxx order was shipping, and my order number was only 200 behind his. But, we shall see, we shall see.

GERONIMO is also one I ordered and received. WILD BILL is still in Deadwood somewhere awaiting a shipping confirmation. I'm a big fan of Walter Hill, but had consistently heard both of these were lesser works for him, so I never did see them. Lots of folks on this site championed both though so I decided they were worth checking out.

Westerns from all eras have made for great watches during the lockdown. Lots of beautiful, open spaces to breathe, often easily identifiable good guys and bad guys and lots of major issues mostly resolved in the end. That's just what I need during this present worldwide hysteria surrounding us.

Wild Bill is an interesting one for sure. I wouldn't say it's one of Walter Hill's best, but it's not his worst either. It's pretty great seeing Jeff Bridges in a Walter Hill film. I wish I had gotten the Driver earlier, as that sucker is now going for over a $100.

Me! Me! Me!

It'll be nice to see a sale going on that I don't want to spend any money at.

(There isn't a single title they've put out that I have any interest in. Just not my thing. Although...I'm still waffling on whether I'm enough of a Paul Schrader fan to get Patty Hearst when it comes out. But then, that doesn't seem all that typical of their releases. Much in the same way as Grindhouse's release of The Swimmer isn't typical of them, either.)

I'm pretty sure nobody is expecting WILD BILL to be one of Hill's best... it was panned by critics and a box office flop... but I'm hoping it's at least entertaining based on the sets and photography accompanied by a good cast.

The Driver nears the top of my list of "one's that got away"... hoping it's released again by someone...

If you're Region B compatible, Studio Canal has released it in several European countries.

With Fox now in the mouse's clutches your best hope is to import the UK StudioCanal Blu if you're region-free: the UK and German discs have the alternate TV opening, trailer and 13 TV spots and is the slightly longer European cut. I'd love to see it get the Long Riders treatment, but I'm not holding my breath.

I am order 74157, still waiting on shipping. I am in no hurry, except worried about the two titles that are now out of stock.

A little annoyed that they do not seem to be shipping in order, as they have claimed.

I was very disappointed by Wild Bill. It's not terrible, but it's just so very mediocre. I would advise anyone blind buying to keep their expectations low.

Patty Hearst is a pretty good film, I streamed it on the Criterion Channel a month or two back, but it's definitely their most mainstream release yet.

It didn't click for me first time at all, but it worked surprisingly well on a second viewing. Part of the problem is with that cast and the way the trailer sold it leads you to expect a completely different kind of film to the one Hill made (and the amount of time it spent in post-production Hell implies the studio tried their damnedest to turn it into a more conventional film before giving up). I think it's the kind of film that's inevitably disappointing on a first viewing, at times cramped by its brief running time and its flashback structure, but becomes rather intriguing second time round with no expectations.

Side note: 15 years of inflation is certainly a factor, but it's bizarre to think that MGM/UA spent only $6m or so less on it than they did on their previous western that co-starred Jeff Bridges and John Hurt, Heaven's Gate, and actually grossed even less. Those guys must have been gluttons for punishment.

Held back extras above the 3000 that were to be used as replacement disc for lost items or defective discs

SAE does have a USED Disc section so they buy certain collections so easily someone could have bought it years ago, never watched it and then SAE bought it for 50% then resold it at regular price.

Dundee was not a repressing since virtually all those first 4-5 years were full 3000 unit (plus a few spares not meant for sale). The partial pressing was a pretty recent thing once items stopped selling out or even selling rapidly as preorders. It was one of those items that was only sold at SAE like most of the 2011-2014 releases. I remember Dundee selling out during a sale, I don't remember when it came back into stock, but a couple people do so I'll take their word -- does anyone remember when or how many extra copies were on the 2nd Chance?
Major Dundee was a 2-disc release, and was priced about $36(IIRC), so I held off, but I did get it when it suddenly showed up after the sellout for, I want to say $14.95, but it could have been $19 and change, so they had at least one.
The Egyptian I already had when I saw it at SAE after it was OOP for regular price, and it wasn't there when I checked again a couple days later. This was years ago now.

Assuming you still can get into your SAE account - does your order history say what date you bought Dundee (also should have the price listed). I don't doubt what you're saying at all since I've seen a couple different posts say it happened, but I can't find a sales thread or posts in the Dundee thread about when/why it happened -- more out of curiosity since it's more than a bit unusual

That one certainly sounds different than some of these other Sold Out items that pop up with 1 or 2 copies usually for whatever full price was.

I know Dundee went OOS during mid-Nov 2016 sale so it's possible it was sold out for a few days or a couple weeks and some copies were reclaimed from a presumed scalper so put back at the 14.95 sale price -- that would make the most sense why an OOP item would be listed at such a steep discount. I know early on that SAE would often cancel sales for 15-25 copies of a single title in one order especially when it was getting low in stock.

i mean, the candy snatchers is pretty great. and good luck, miss wycoff is a really solid great movie. now when i say these are great, i am not saying they are fun or enjoyable.

a lot of their other stuff is all more of schlocky type, but i those two are legitimately worth adding to any collection.
