Also at SAE under the Twilight Time Label also with the Nancy Kwan DVD and the Holiday in Spain (Cinerama) Bluray that I always have to ingore or delete from the disc totals. As far as I can tell it always has been there. I thought at TTM also, but I spent a lot less time on that site until this sale gave me a New Meaning for Life


Not even remotely one of those things that rates as even a little deal, but just one of those odd things

I'm really hoping to find a (semi) good deal for Love is a Many Splendored thing and Picnic. Not holding my breath though...

Sony did an official release of "Picnic" in Spain (or, if you're region-free then Eureka have a readily available release):

Fox Japan did release "Love is a Many-Splendored Thing":

It's pricey but still a cheaper alternative to some of the TT prices. Not to mention, it fixes an audio glitch that is present on the TT.

Keep a running search going on eBay, and check the Amazon listings regularly too. You can never tell, you may come across a reasonably-priced copy at any time! That's what happened with my search for Love is a Many-Splendored Thing recently; just happened to find someone selling a used copy very cheap (about $32 plus tax/shipping). I think I must have come across upon the listing very soon after it appeared online, and I just happened to be the one who got there first. So----they can still be found.

I'm not region free (I think of it as Blu-Ray population control), will those two releases still work in my region A player?

The Japanese "Love is a..." will work on US players, but I haven't seen an inexpensive copy readily available.

The Spanish "Love is a..." is readily available (cheaply) on eBay, and will work on US players. But I don't know if it's the same transfer as the TT version or not....

Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong are all Region A like the US/Canada.

Didn't know there was an audio glitch. What scene does it happen in? (Not that I mind, since I really wanted the Blu Ray and don't mind it if it's minor, unlike with the DVD for Anastasia, from what I've heard)

24:21 during the dialogue of "now tell me about yourself" the word "now" is weirdly cut out and the film is quiet for a split second.

My SAE ordered copy of The Fortune Cookie was delivered today. This was ordered on the 20th, the same day I got the oos cancellation from TT. I was fortunate that I had a safety net for this title that I might not have for others. I haven’t heard a peep from TT since that email.

I just ordered all my refunded movies on SAE and a few others that the stocks getting low on. I prob will be getting those before my TT even ship out lol

Thanks! It’s mentioned in the review but not specifically, I think the review doesn’t even say that it affects dialogue. This is exactly the kind of thing I’m always interested to know before I buy a release, especially if there’s multiple options. When this stuff is found out, please consider adding a user review! It will help anyone looking at either release. It could be written as a comparison, in other words, each one would mention the other to say that it has/doesn’t have an issue that the other does/doesn’t.

On another note, bitrate is something else I always compare between releases. Of course bitrate isn’t everything (transfer, encode, etc, etc), but it’s not nothing either, especially if it’s the same transfer and a difference of 8-10 mbps... I’ve been really happy to see generally high bitrates on TT releases, which is a reason for me to seek out the sold out TT titles on my wishlist, even if they’re otherwise available.

I just recently picked up the Fox Japan BD of LIAMST, and can confirm; it's the cream of the crop. Aside from fixing the niggling audio dropout, it also features a slightly-better optimized encode, with a smidge more fine grain on display and less macroblocking to be seen in the shadow/darker areas. (Not that the TT was any bad to begin with.)

to be exact my email also stated this:-

"We have received multiple inquiries from customers who have checked their order status on our site and are concerned about a message that some titles on their order are no longer available for sale. This standard message has no bearing on the status of your order and only means that a title has sold out and can not be purchased again. Unless you have been contacted by our support team and told otherwise, all the products you ordered are allocated to your order and it will ship complete as soon as possible".
