Echo, no worries brother. I was hoping that no one would take that joke seriously, but it's understandable given how on edge everyone is during the pandemic.

The big problem is you can't always convey the tone of voice, even with emoticons. You can say something to somebody face to face and they'll get it straight away from your tone of voice, but write it down without specifying you're joking and there's always the chance that someone's going to grab the wrong end of the stick, beat you over the head with it and do a victory lap with your severed arm. And then, even worse, report you to the admins.

* EDIT - A magazine I edited published a review about a release of Triumph of the Will that satirically speculated on the distributor's motives for putting it and other Nazi propaganda films out, written in terms we all thought made it clear that we suspected their motives of being, shall we say, less than noble and educational. The postbag subsequently positively bulged with letters criticising the reviewer for his 'naiveite'...

There does seem to be a lot more tension around here lately, even in some threads that are usually fairly mellow. I hope everyone is okay.

Rushing to respond is also a bad idea and I consistently see people hitting REPLY and going off without having even read the whole post they are responding to.

Not to mention those who just hit POST REPLY without reading ANYTHING in the thread first.

My modest order of 3 titles from May 10th finally shipped this afternoon. I'm really excited to get My Gal Sal as it's a Rita Hayworth film I've never seen before.

I dunno about that. Just yesterday, it took me maybe two minutes to open the Prime app on my TV, do a search for The Court Jester, and start watching. Most of that was typing in enough characters into the search field to narrow the list of options to the point of "court jester" appearing in the choices list.

By the by, I highly recommend watching this for anyone who has Prime. The master used looks beautiful.

Wow! This is amazing news regarding The Court Jester. I have a dvd copy that was distributed by Warner Archive from a number of years ago when they handled some Paramount titles and it looks awful now on an hd tv. This hd transfer seems to also be available on google play, so it should be on other sevices too. VistaVision films look great on blu-ray. Now that Paramount has started a blu-ray MOD program msybe this will get a blu-ray release. It really is one of Danny Kaye's best pictures and has so many other great people including Angela Lansbury, Basil Rathbone, Glynis Johns, and Mildred Natwick.

To keep this on topic: was The World of Henry Orient the only TT title featuring Angela Lansbury? Never got that one originally, but just found a copy for about $25US with shipping off ebay.
EDIT: I see she is also in the cast for The Long Hot Summer

I've always had a thing for Glynis Johns. I don't know what it is, maybe the voice. The World of Henry Orient is good fun if you don't go into it expecting a Peter Sellers movie.

Also, I have seen World of Henry Orient many times before, which is why before I passed on purchasing it, but now when it is impossible to get in any other decent physical form I suddenly felt like I needed it.

Huh, somehow I never realised that Angela Lansbury (one of my favourites) was also in this film. And when I saw the disc has a Julie Kirgo/Nick Redman commentary track, I had to have it! I've just ordered a copy for $15.00 (shipping included) from eBay; not cheap, but quite reasonable. If anyone else is interested in the film, there are many more copies available on eBay at that price.

Duh. I have just discovered that shipping a $15 title from SAE to the UK is $2 cheaper than shipping a $12 title from TTM.

I popped on The Seven Ups!

FYI: She is incredibly cute and very, very sexy in a pretty lousy movie called THE CHAPMAN REPORT.

Woohoo, congratulations! Hope you enjoy it. Sometimes when I'm working, I just let the music-only track play in the background.... (Huh, guess it would make more sense to actually buy the soundtrack, wouldn't it.....)

Lucky snag! Haven't seen the whole movie (only about the first half), but so far, it isn't really my thing. Hoping it comes back on TCM to finally see it in full.

That was the movie that got me hooked on her. The Chapman Report is entertaining trash. A very young Jane Fonda is also quite cute in it. The Chapman Report is one of those movies made during the early 60's that were supposedly about sex but mostly avoided the subject completely (see Sex and the Single Girl).

Poor George Cukor, even he couldn't save it, but I still have the memory of Glynis on the beach reading Dostoyevsky.
