Thanks for making the list, it's very interesting! Wow, so... 15k items left in stock, with the top title having over 800 copies, a good handful of titles at over 700 copies, and a further handful of titles at 400+ to 600+ copies. 15k items is a lot to be sending to SAE when TT closes shop.

The last day coupon code is interesting in that it offers $10 off an order of $110, and stacks with their previous promotions. That's a total of 3 promotions that could apply to an order of $110. Orders around $100 seem to be the magic number for them... Given that it's the last day, and the selection of titles to choose from is at its lowest, I do wonder that they didn't aim lower for a final coupon code to bring in as many final sales as they can. Maybe a $50 threshold. Or maybe all orders.

Anyone planning to watch some TT tonight? I've been slowly savoring my watching but I think I'll try to watch a few tonight.

What luck. I just discovered that Olivia de Havilland (who I’m a huge fan of) starred in a sanitarium thriller called The Snake Pit. I look up the movie and see that it was a 20th Century Fox production. I was like “Ugh, it probably went to Twilight Time if anyone, and isn’t available anymore.” Turns out, it was released by TT, but it was still available on their site, so I immediately ordered it. And here I discover that it’s the last day to order, so I lucked out hard. Are there any other de Havilland films in TT’s library aside from My Cousin Rachel and Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte (which I already own)?

Have you never seen The Snake Pit? Well, you have a real treat in store! It's a key film in de Havilland's career, and her performance is absolutely flawless. This wasn't just a "sanitarium thriller"; it was a groundbreaking film that showed mental illness as a treatable disease. In 1947, producer Darryl F. Zanuck made Gentleman's Agreement, which shined a light on the problem of anti-Semitism. In 1948, he gave us The Snake Pit. And in 1949, he produced Pinky, which dealt with the issues of racial injustice and interracial relationships. Each of those films was intended to address a social problem that was plaguing post-War America, and each of them succeeded in causing a stir and initiating public dialogue.

Gentleman's Agreement won the Best Picture Oscar, and Pinky was the most controversial of the three films (theatres in the South either cut the film to ribbons or banned it entirely), but in hindsight, The Snake Pit was the better of the three films and has aged the best thanks to de Havilland's brave performance. Mental illness was considered both frightening and shameful in the late Forties, and de Havilland managed to make the character she portrayed simultaneously enigmatic and sympathetic. I think that if she had not been awarded the Oscar two years earlier for To Each His Own, she won have won the statue over Jane Wyman's touching turn in Johnny Belinda. And I think that when de Havilland won the award again in 1949 for The Heiress, voters were also celebrating her incredible work the year before.

My dad was 10 years old when The Snake Pit was released, and he was absolutely forbidden to see it. So of course he and my uncle sneaked away to see it, riding their bikes three miles into town to catch an evening showing. Dad remembered being so unnerved by the the film in general and Olivia de Havilland in particular, that he raced his bike home in the dark. Halfway there, he hit a large rock in the road and went over the handlebars, nearly biting his tongue off in the process!

I've always loved this film, and in fact own two copies, "just in case." I don't understand how the film has managed to remain in stock, but for your sake, I'm happy it did. It truly is a classic, and a "must-own" for fans of its leading lady.

I put in a final order at 11:59 PM. It was order # 81439.

Counting from my July 1st order, that's over 1,300 orders between July 1st and tonight.

Bobby Deerfield had 6 copies left at 11:59 PM.

The last 7 copies of Forever Amber disappeared at once at approximately 11:52 PM. (Still more than 50 over at SAE.)

They were pretty specific about saying that the store would close at midnight Pacific, although it's still open as of this post at 12:08.

EDIT: It seems to have been a manual process. I saw the Add to Cart buttons slowly start disappearing from selected items. As of 12:10, the only items available to purchase are Cases and Africa Screams.

The site is being updated bit by bit. Most product archive pages are now live on the site, although not yet publicly listed. I expect we'll see them appear any time now, as they've just updated the menu bar with the product category "Twilight Time Archive," under which these titles are listed.

For example: https://www.twilighttimemovies.com/j...earth-blu-ray/

Product pages now display the following message:

"We no longer offer this title for sale, this listing is here for reference. Screen Archives still carries a wide selection of Twilight Time titles."

Yeah. TT movies will still be for sale at SAE. So, not sure what the big deal was.

Stock not identical, prices different, shipping charges different, preference is giving money directly to the actual label.... and more I'm sure.

@jmclick - I was surprised, too, that this one was available for as long as it was. this one had 20th Century Fox, star power, and good reviews going for it.

I made one last purchase yesterday and had my eye on The Snake Pit for a few days. It was the centerpiece of what I bought. I put some other titles together to get the extra $10 off $100. w/o TSP, though, I may have been done.

Olivia de Havviland turned 104 on July 1st, so she outlived Kirk Douglas and I believe she's the oldest old Hollywood star still living.

Her sis Joan Fontaine was the bee's knees, too. She made it to 96. There was something that I had read shortly before she died... she and Louis Jourdan were both alive and into their 90's which made Letter From an Unknown Woman the oldest film for which both stars were still alive.

Seems so unfortunate the two hated each other.

Big fans of the work of both.

Other note, Joan Fontaine starred in Jane Eyre, and Olivia starred in a film about the author of Jane Eyre (Devotion).

Fontaine would still autograph things mailed to her for free until very late in her life.

Hopefully this isn't the high resolution art for all titles they promised, as what is there is super low resolution.

It seems they haven't made the product listings publicly viewable yet, so hopefully they're working on that.

SAE has everything TT had basically since the Clearance sale started. On March 1 TT had Remains of the Day which sold out the first couple days and My Beautiful Wife which sold out the 1st day of the Clearance sale.

Cost is different -- no argument

Shipping costs weren't really too different until you got over 10 titles and for Internationals SAE shipping costs are noticeably lower the last I ran the numbers.

OTOH -- for now it's not like most of these title are suddenly OOP and scalper bait

Sneaky, I see how you did that. I assume the system would let it go through, given that they're still selling Africa Screams and empty cases. Assuming no one really needs anything from this list for $3 less than SAE and attempts to put in an order, I guess we can take this as the final count of stock that will be going to SAE.

TT have now made the product pages active, so there's 328 items (supposedly) to browse:

https://www.twilighttimemovies.com/t...ime-archive-1/

Many don't have high resolution product images, and of course many titles are missing as well, but I'm waiting to hear if they're still working on it.

I've already saved all images and all product pages from the site (as well as all news articles)... After watching for any changes over the next few days, I'll make the entire thing available as one big zip download, in case anyone was thinking of saving stuff from the site and wants to save themselves some time.
