Updated Bite the Bullet -- not sure if it sold out yesterday or I just misread my last list of titles.

It is not region locked as it is the exact same disc as the LE. The listing here on the site also does not state Region B locked as A and C are "untested".

Thank-you. Just checked the Indicator website & it is indeed listed as Region Free. The special feature interview with Stephanie Powers really makes it the superior version. She reflects on the fact that she is probably the last person involved with the film who is still alive.

It's superior more for the inclusion of the original mono track (TT only includes a 5.1 remix).

My Twilight Time "ordeal" finally reached an end when I received my first sale order, the biggest of all those I placed, shipped in late May.
Luckily only the one item was taken out, that they told me about, nothing else.
I received all my other orders months ago.

I thought this earlier, but forgot to comment (sure some people would think that's a good thing) -- while Short Night is a pretty interesting film, it's certainly not the item out of the last year of releases I would have thought would sell out as one of the earliest of the 2018 releases (the 6th of approx 47 releases). There are several 2019 releases I would have predicted to go earlier

When it sells out it will become the 'newest' TT title to go OOP -- assuming this is a permanent sell out. If the rumors of those short first print runs is true then I guess it's possible this could be one of those that in theory could return at some point.

Now that Zelig is sold out at SAE, and officially Out-Of-Print by any definition of the term, $25.00 would tempt me if I didn't already have it. Woody Allen's Purple Rose of Cairo, which sold out a long time ago is commanding outrageous prices ... when it can be found. Let us know what you decide!

I watched The Admirable Crichton last night, and it was just the delight I needed after another crummy week in this year from hell.

Ah, and now this thread is unpinned. A great run and this company got me involved here when they first started. A shame it had to end how it did. Nick Redman did it right.

I think of George Harrison's song "All Things Must Pass"

Even though I was late to the party, thanks for all the great films, Twilight Time.

I’ll always be thankful to TT for getting me hooked on the likes of Sam Fuller and Sam Peckinpah.

For me their final sale was the trigger for me to start splurging on boutique releases from TT Eureka MoC and Indicator, then Criterion.
That and the great fan base on this forum.
Even though my bank accounts hates you, I'm forever grateful.

Question: in TT's "Hello Frisco Hello", the movie begins with the Fox fanfare logo in full screen, followed by the opening titles which are framed in black. Quite visibly so. When the actual movie starts it's back to full screen.
This is not the first title I noticed this, and I always wondered why. Does anyone know?

That's a great question and I can only hazard a guess at the answer. I figure that as some films shot in 1.37:1 were being prepared for television's 1.33:1 screens, that studios began to worry that some of the credits might not be fully visible to home viewers, and so they framed the titles both horizontally and vertically. This technique is called "windowboxing" ... as opposed to "letterboxing," in which there are black bars only on the top and bottom of the picture, and "pillarboxing," in which black bars appear only on the sides of the image.

One title sequence that has always puzzled me is the opening of the 1946 film, The Razor's Edge. If you look closely, there is an "echo effect" (my phrase) visible on the left hand side of the film, in which a tiny, tiny vertical strip of the picture is repeated. I don't know if this intentional (I would assume it's not), or when it first appeared. I first saw the film on the "big screen" back in the late 70's, and I was so enthralled by the fact that it was being shown that I might have missed this curiosity if it was present, but it's definitely been there on all the home video releases of the film.

This is correct. Many transfers of films in Academy ratio that were originally prepared for DVDs (and 1.33.1 TVs) have windowboxing around the credits for precisely this reason.

But, and I have to but, sorry, why not fix this for home video release then? Especially when restoring these movies?
By the way, I remember seeing many times movies on tv or even home video that had the titles going off screen
Even widescreen ones, making me wonder, just what ration were they intended for (not really a question).

By the way, watched Mother Wore Tights from TT last night (have to say, not a fan of the artwork!) and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Oh what innocent fun and Betty Grable is always a delight, what a pro! And I never really liked Dan Dailey but he is also quite a pro.
Funny that, after watching the Hello Frisco Hello mini-feature "Hello Again, The Re-Making Of Alice Faye" they mention how Hello Frisco Hello is basically a remake of King Of Burlesque, and watching Mother Wore Tights, I noticed some more similarities with another Vaudeville movie, There's No Business Like Show Business (one of my all-time favorites), namely, artists who send their children to boarding schools because they can't take them on the road, but who then join their act, and...ok there were other similarities that I now forget, but Dan Dailey being the father of a Vaudevillian act is another one.
I was wondering if this is just, what life for Vaudevillian families was, or it's just Fox recycling parts or stories of their musicals even more?

The other reason for windowboxing, at least before widescreen TVs became the norm, was because CRTs tended to be factory set to overscan, cutting off some of the surrounding picture.
