I've NEVER received a confirmation email on any one of the dozen plus orders I've placed with SAE via PayPal. NEVER.

But they are always in my order history and they always show up.

So as long as I see it in the order history, I'm good. If it's not in the order history, I'd sweat.

(And I did pre-order Christine...and it shows in my orders).

Sony unless they sub license to someone else.
As we said somewhere in the middle of all the complaints, is Sony Germany are releasing a number of the titles which they have passed to TT in the US later this year. However that does not currently include Christine, only Blue Lagoon and As Good As It Gets.

Sony UK are a waste of space and like Warner UK release a lot less back catalogue BD here in the UK than their European businesses especially in Germany, France and Spain.

Thanks, I will contact SAE about a possible replacement. I took out the disc looked it over and no issues I even wiped it gently just in case.

I tried it on my panasonic player upstairs and no issues. But on the PS3 downstairs it does the freeze then ships forward prob about a min ish.

Canada In other news...

...my latest box of goodies from TT arrived yesterday, and I've already watched two of them:
  • Pony Soldier - damn I'm so torn over this one. On the plus side, I'd never seen this movie and was enthralled by its very unusual take on the dynamics of early white/aborignal interaction in the NW Canadian frontier. In fact, PS was so sympathetic to several of its redskin characters that it must have seemed shocking to audiences during the heydey of the classic American western (circa '52). Yet there was also a lot of fun to be had with the native supporting roles as well as the location work (just don't attempt to use it as a geography lesson - Sedona Valley, AZ is certainly not the most credible stand-in for the Assiniboia region of SK. But what the hey...it's a moooviee. For me, the reel treasure here was Alex North's score, which seemed very innovative for such material - something I'm sure I'll listen to many more times isolated. Unfortunately, I wish I had better news about the Fox Technicolor transfer - at times it was pretty dodgy with some noticeable gamma and age-related registration issues, resulting in both underwhelming colour shifts plus fringeing (bad combo). Sadly, this one needed a serious overhaul before it could be considered truly HD ready, but given its obscure lost-in-the-vault status, what were the odds of that, really? On balance, I'm still happy to have it because of that absolutely wonderful, and new-to-me North score.
  • Nicholas and Alexandra - To save time and space, I think I'll just defer to everything JHas and oildude said several pages back. This baby is an absolute jewel...a very underrated movie to begin with which has been treated here magnificently via Sony's 4k scan and transfer...a top drawer Blu-ray in every respect. So no reservations whatsoever...just treat yourself to one of the finest epics in terms of historical drama and quality of A/V presentation (including the sound which was mighty impressive for an original Mono mix).

Where do you go to see the number of copies still available? I'm interested in picking up Nicholas and Alexandra in the not-too-distant future, I assume that probably won't sell out too fast, but I don't see any info on #copies left on the page.

I haven't seen Nicholas and Alexandra but it does look interesting. Anyone now if this title is available for viewing online (i.e. extended clips or streaming)? Would like to see more before deciding to purchase.

There appears to be plently of copies left. SAE is currently showing 1347 units available.

Thanks, but where do you find that number? There are a few other titles I want to keep an eye out in case they're in danger of selling out soon...

Add the title to your cart, change the quantity to 3000, and hit Update. If that doesn't work move your cart to your wishlist or add another title to your cart and the quantity should update. Sometime's SAEs cart count is flaky and doesn't always update right away.

As always, double check firmware issues.

As I have said in the past, the only Blu-ray that every really gave me trouble was Twilight Time's PAL JOEY.

It was clean as a whistle but would stutter for a few seconds and skip ahead about mid way through the movie on one of my players but not on the other.

When I finally got around to doing a firmware update on the problematic player, the issue dissappeared and it's played perfectly ever since.

What you are describing...plays fine on one player but not the other...is the same thing I observed with PAL JOEY.

Hmm, I just keep getting a price of $89,850.00 for the full 3000 even after I move them to the wishlist, maybe if I leave them there for a bit it'll change. Anyway, thanks for your help!

Pre-orders are usually up approx 3 weeks before the release.

Keep checking back on this thread and the one for Philadelpia. It won't be an immediate sell out I see it selling about like As Good as it Gets / Steel Magnolias
