So you're comparing people who buy multiple copies of BDs to rapists. Can't the TT and seller bashers save their threadcrapping for the Christine thread? There's plenty of the usual witless and hyperbolic whining, misplaced entitlement, and asinine fingerprinting polluting that thread (as with the Fright Night and NOTLD threads before), no need for the crazies to ruin the general (and generally sane) TT thread as well. At least with The Blob being pushed back to 2014, we'll be spared another invasion of the woodwork ranters until then, although doubtless all this meaningless and redundant white noise will be dusted off and carted out for their next horror title, whatever and whenever that may be. Unless, of course, the Facebook kids start rattling their sabres over the outrageously limited availability of Leave Her to Heaven and Song of Bernadette ? Yeah, I didn't think so either...

...after all the SOP brouhaha over Christine this weekend, I dusted off Fright Night for a repeat viewing. Some folks consider this movie a Halloween staple, but not me; it just gets played whenever I happen to be in the mood...typically years apart. Still a lot of fun though, and uncommonly good for what was originally just another throwaway pop genre release.
The casting in particular continues to be one of those rare happy accidents which must have seemed pretty by-the-book at the time (Chris Sarandon, "check", Roddy McDowell, "double-check"), but in retrospect, was absolutely brilliant. And there were just enough Fx setpieces too, held back for maximum pay-off. Fiedel's score even sounded better this time around. Admittedly, prior this TT release whenever I thought of this movie its goofy J. Geils Band music video invariably popped into mind, but Fiedel took the movie to another level of class and distinction: In all, just a really good little horror-tragi-comedy - which is a rare enough thing itself - done with exhuberant style, weight, and conviction. For all the faux-drama over this release, I'm glad TT ran with it... |

Just got done watching Swamp Water and it was another great title from TT that delivered on a great story, superb acting, and amazing picture. Great cast, nice to see more films from Anne Baxter and Dana Andrews like this. I'm so glad I got into classics lately because it makes me appreciate film that much more. I even watch the classic BDs more often than new releases nowadays. I highly recommend for everyone to check this one out.

Unfortunately I missed the BLuray release. I remember seeing the cover of the VHS in my childhood in my local Video store, and it had made such an impression on me! It had been stuck on my mind! I always wanted to see it, but I was afraid. I always thought that it has something to do with ghosts.. (it reminded me of the ghost figures in the end of Raiders of the lost Ark).. at last i saw it. I loved it of course! I love the 80s and I'm glad I grew up during that period. Now, even if I see an 80s movie that I haven't seen it, it's like nostlagia, like I had seen it in my childhood and now I'm all over a kid.. |

There is a member who frequently bashes Twilight Time when he drops into the individual movie threads, who has for six months insulted Rock repeatedly, calling him names, insisting he is Bruce from Facebook. This has gone on despite a cheerful rebuttal from Rock months ago, and posts from others who follow TT on Facebook who point out that Bruce is a young guy (sorry, Rock). Apparently, this member can't stand anyone who roots for TT with enthusiasm. Rock is too much of a good guy to respond to this obnoxious crap or to bother with it; really, it is pointless to do so anyway on a forum where we are all anonymous and converse with each other using "secret" identities.
Just yesterday I came across another one of this member's obnoxious posts toward Rock in a Twilight Time movie thread. Rock wasn't even in the neighborhood, the guy was posting to others. If this were being done in a respectfully humorous spirit and as a running joke, it would be all in good fun. But it isn't. This guy is just being a douche. I just asked out of idle curiosity, not because I have some larger agenda.

![]() As oildude noted (and thanks for the kind props bud), this whole thing has become a running joke here, and I try to take it as such. At this point, not worth dignifying with a response. Where it's coming from though is another more interesting issue, because the underlying assumption and implicit belief is that there couldn't possibly be two enthusiastic fans of TT in this world! Ergo, they must be the same person! And furthermore, this 'Net Sybil must also be some kind of employed plant. I mean, no mere fan or collector could possibly share the same enthusiasm with another for this limited edition vintage catalogue label...now could he/she/they? Silly of course, but more revealing of the jaded, quasi-paranoid psychology of the 'Net these days I suppose. Actually, the genesis of this ID was back in the late 90s when I became a member of the Entertainment Weekly/Time Warner Pathfinder boards. After those forums folded, I retired it for many many years, but decided to resurrect it again in '11 when I joined this site. Nothing more mysterious than that...I always liked the visual pun in the name, and had a pic handy that I could 'blue-ify' for an avatar, and it does allude to my fan/collector demographic...so it just stuck. I don't understand the constant griping from some people about Twilight Time. It would be great if every film sold well enough to justify a general release, but that's not the case. I'm glad that a company exists that can make a small print run of a film that won't sell well in a general release.
