I didn't say it was, I was only noting that even an animated series such as Beetlejuice will only be available thru Amazon. I was just pointing out that local store stock isn't what it used to be. If studios can't move product then they feel more and more catalog titles are hard for them to sale.

Long story short if Sony wanted to release Christine and any other title or a Fox title that TT has released no on told them they couldn't. The main studio is where anyone should turn their frustration towards. TT are only offering titles that Sony and Fox said they didn't have interest in releasing themselves. SAE is the distributor for TT.

I missed this post...if it's true I think it means TT does deserve at least some share of the blame for undersupply of popular titles, I guess we can hope that at some point in the next few years they'll have a chance to re-negotiate the contracts and increase the number for more popular titles (and maybe do another run of copies of titles that there's obviously still a lot of demand for like Fright Night).

Partly because stores in the past 20 years sell more products than ever before so each section got smaller & smaller.

When VHS was still around DVD didn't have much titles or sell as it does now until VHS was all gone. If DVD finally goes or at least be only in the combo packs then more BD titles that can go onto the stores shelves for more people to buy. Especially most people that I know actually still go out for products instead of online.

With B & N and Best Buy closing stores and (very likely for the former, eventually possible for the latter) perhaps shutting their doors entirely, in a few years there may be no more stores to go to. With higher prices, smaller selection, gas cost, sales tax (I know Amazon charges it a few states), and clueless employees, why bother?

Part of what happens when everyone wants to start buying or streaming video online instead of going out. More People using credit cards making themselves get into debt instead of using cash.

I have seen tons of stuff online that's higher than any prices I have seen in most of the stores I go to. The ability to get something now at store prices is better compared to waiting weeks and pay even more just to have it shipped.

Ever heard of a debit card? And Amazon gets all of my BDs to me in two days, with free shipping and no tax.

Personally, I'd like to see Twilight Time tackle some '80s sex comedies--seeing as Sony and Fox have quite a few in their back catalog. Ah, the glorious '80s, when even cheap and sleazy comedies got theatrical releases and big studio backing.

From Sony, there's Private Resort (featuring a young Johnny Depp), Spring Break, Hardbodies, Just One of the Guys (a classic, really), Stewardess School (not released on DVD), probably others

From Fox--Bachelor Party (hilarious to see Tom Hanks in this), Revenge of the Nerds (the best sex comedy ever, probably too big for TT), the Porky's sequels, Mischief (might be with Anchor Bay), Gimme an 'F' (fairly obscure, not released on DVD--would love to see on BD)

The TT guys have made some pretty off-the-wall picks, so I figure almost anything's possible. I know I'd be down for all of the titles I listed, but it's mostly wishful thinking.

But anyway, I think a few of them could sell well enough, like Just One of the Guys for instance. The DVD was full screen, and it's got a fairly decent fanbase/cult audience.

The film also was not well received by either critics or audiences, though might be of interest for fans of Elizabeth Taylor, Warren Beatty, or George Stevens.
I'm approaching The Only Game In Town like The Wayward Bus...yet another lost red-haired stepchild finally coming home. Same level of curiosity Blu-Velvet...especially regarding its Jarre score, which I've never heard. Coming at the tail-end of Taylor's mid/late-60s string of 'serious actrice' flops, I just can't resist its odd - probably more like strange - fading star allure. Which alone makes it a TT natural...much like Woodward's The Stripper if they ever decide to resurrect that one too.

I would buy every single one of those

I can't wait to see people scooping up 40 copies of Stew School

Most of the movies you mentioned have HD transfers (I don't know if Gimme an F does, but it looked pretty good on the Fox Movie Channel in SD).

Yes, Sony has an HD transfer of Stewardess School (and it is airing in HD next month on the Sony Movie Channel, Private Resort too).

If you have access to 'ViewNow OnDemand' from your tv provider (I think its $5/month) they have Just One of the Guys and Hardbodies playing in HD right now.

Not sure what the ruckus is all about. Twilight Time obviously needs more popular titles to subsidize the less popular ones. Or else they don't make any money and go out of business. Sure, it's a bit of movie socialism. A Fright Night or a Christine helps many of these other releases exist.

For whatever reason, horror movies sell better. Compare this to "big" name titles like As Good As it Gets, which has not not sold nearly as well. But the net result is having most of these titles on Blu-Ray when many may have never gotten there in the first place. To me, it's a net win even while a few individual movies (and their fans) lose out.

I can remember all the whining about how 3000 was too little and $30 was too much, but the fact that it hasn't sold out just goes to show that the true buyers are the horror fans, and they're willing to pay more.

I watched Enemy Mine recently after letting it languish for far too long on my shelf, and I have to say, it was actually pretty decent. I was expecting a campy 80s film saturated with cheese but was instead surprised to see a respectable treatment of several topical issues.

[Show spoiler]I especially liked that, true to his word, Davidge not only raised the baby born of his once-enemy, but also passed on some elements of his cultural heritage. Pretty progressive, if you ask me

Anything's possible, yes. That said, part of TT's m.o. has been showcasing film scores and their composers through isolated score tracks, and, I'm guessing, either from my distant memories or not having seen the films you listed at all, that those films' soundtracks are mostly comprised of songs and minimal score. And, if there is a score, it's mostly not by a maestro nor the greatest example of the form.

REVENGE OF THE NERDS is an early work by Thomas Newman, who has yet to be represented in the TT line, and, as I recall, the score has some nice moments, but, again, this is more of a song-dominated soundtrack and probably too "big" a title for TT, but one never knows.

It's certainly feasible that TT could abandon their "score mission" if it is deemed that there is serious profit to be made on one or some of these titles and they are afforded the opportunity by Sony or Fox.

No, you seem to imply their 'scores' are songs from not very noteworthy composers. Bernard Hermann? Goldsmith? Top notch guys, but you should know that here...

I'm talking about:
STEWARDESS SCHOOL
GIVE ME AN "F"
PORKY'S and sequels
JUST ONE OF THE GUYS
BACHELOR PARTY
MISCHIEF
etc.

I don't think there's a Goldsmith or Herrmann in there.
