May i ask something?
when they say "isolated score track", doesn't it have all the music cues? I was just browsing Nicholas and Alexandra (I can't find any seperate thread for this), and approx. at 1.06.30 the music enters abruptly in the iso score, and just before where it normally has music in the audio channel, the iso doesn't. |

Cuts down on expenses.
http://forums.highdefdigest.com/high...rise-more.html HTF: As I understand it because of your business model these are upfront costs for you? Absolutely. This is another reason why the studios love this model. It has to do with accounting. The worst thing that you can do is propose a project to a studio that involves them having to get their lawyers, and operatives into having to do another task beyond the job that they are already being paid to do by the studio. So you must find a way to eradicate that. If you are Criterion, for example, you go to somewhere like Sony and you say, we will give you X number of dollars to license these 10 titles, the studio says, oh okay, but they know that dealing with Criterion that way, Criterion pays an advance against royalties, and they have to keep monitoring what the sales situation is. With our model of only 3000 units, we work out what the per unit royalty charge to the studio is going to be, and we write them a check for that money straightaway. So, they are then out of it. They have been paid in full. By the time the disc comes out they have nothing else to worry about. They have no more obligations, they don’t have to chase us up for money or figure out how many discs we sold. It’s a very clean model. And so that's another reason why our costs or our pricing structure has to be on the higher side: because all of those things are paid out of pocket right off the bat on each title. |

Despite this, I still won't be buying if it's from the same HD master as the DVD. It could have undergone great restoration work ala How Green. This is almost as big of a disappointment to me as Demetrius and the Gladiators was last year. It's a shame that Fox disn't put more work into it.

If I want it, I'll buy it. With these limited editions, MOD discs, etc...the benefits of having it far outweigh not having it in my opinion. These companies are in business to make a profit. How much profit do you think a company would make from having unlimited Blu-ray run, authoring, distribution, overhead, advertising, etc. on a Blu release of "Garbage Pail Kids Movie"? Seriously, how many do you think they'd sell? Not enough to make it worth their time and effort. They don't do it for the love of cinema (maybe some do)...they're in business! I'm still waiting for the pre-order on a movie I thought i'd never see again, much less on Blu-Ray ("At Long Last Love"). $29.99 is a perfectly acceptable price point for me... |

Well, as good as "As Good as it Gets" is, there's very little replay value in it. The others have never had a reputation as strong catalog sellers. Still, I'm quite surprised Blue Lagoon is not a sellout for prurient reasons alone.

I've always wondered why the TT title pages weren't available before the preorder period since SAE puts up pages for preorder titles from other studios in advance. If SAE is worried about people ordering before hand then they could disable the add to cart button or set quantities to zero.

just put it up without a pre-order "button". then everyone will know the date, and not be asking every 4 posts. ![]() |

TT wants their sells to start at the exact same time for their pre-orders. For other DVD-R releases and certain Pre-orders of soundtracks because SAE are usually ordering them thru whatever company is releasing the item. Usually they can get enough stock. Don't forget they've been doing this for a long time. TT titles I think they want to keep seperate and allow for pre-sales to have a start time much like Intrada does for their soundtrack releases every other Monday evening.
