Thanks. No region-free Blu-ray player in my home, so no dice for now. It's good to know that people care enough about this particular movie so that it might see the light of day on these shores at some point, though.

Yeah, not sure that's region locked, though. Some Aussie releases are, but many are region-free, or at least coded for Region A and B.

Yes, good catch. I knew those were with WB and HBO respectively...the Burt conversation seemed to be stepping outside of MGM bounds, with the mention of SPARTANS and ULZANA'S.

Not a big fan of YotD, but I do think a Blu could be impressive considering its cinematographic and production design strengths.

Looking at your list a little more closely, I believe the above title is a Buena Vista property in the U.S.

I'd pay top dollar for a good looking Blu-ray of They Shoot Horses, Don't They?

Thanks for joining the choir on this issue! I think Twilight Time is our best hope for more Harryhausen, owing to the success of "Mysterious Island" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth." Interesting to note that Sony/Columbia ran an on-line poll a few years back seeking input on what Harryhausen title should be next to Blu-Ray, and "Mysterious Island" won, with "Golden Voyage of Sinbad" a close second. Obviously this was passed on to TT since "Mysterious Island" became their first (and to date only) Harryhausen title. Let's hope more people voice their support for more Harryhausen releases, both here and on the TT facebook page.

Indeed, you're right. Thx for the correction

Yep, it's a BV/Disney title. My bad MGM is international rights owner.

I feel like I picked a good time to change my avatar (again).

When I was younger, I had dreams of becoming a stop-motion animator, probably mostly due to Ray Harryhausen. After making attempt after attempt to get started in the animation industry (physical model-making as well as cel animation and CGI), fate said "No way", and it never happened for me. But I still love his (Harryhausen's) films anyway. They are some of the films I grew up on ... seeing over and over again in the theaters as a youngster.

I'd like to add another film to your list, though I would buy any of the ones you listed. I'm not sure how much it's considered a Harryhausen film, although he did do the stop-motion effects for it, but I'd love to see One Million Years B.C. (the 1966 version with Raquel Welch and John Richardson) make it to bluray ... by TT or anybody else who thinks it would be profitable. (I know some of you have read that from me before, but as long as the subject came up, I couldn't resist putting it out there again. ).

Some topics are inevitabley going to get rehashed in forums. In my opinion, that's fine. 1 Million BC seems like a prime property for Twilight Time. Considering the fact that Raquel Welch is in it, it would be a cash cow for TT. Phantom of the Paradise would also make a great money-making release. That way TT could focus on more obscure gems like Prince of Players, Untamed, and The President's Lady.

A while back (6 months or so?), there were stories surfacing about Hammer Films restoring some of their older horror films for bluray. Since One Million Years B.C. is a Hammer Film, they might have the rights to it. Even though I read this thread all the time, I'm still not sure how that all works in regards to TT's chances of obtaining the rights.

EDIT: I'd like to see Phantom of the Paradise too.

Yeah, absolutely. I know it's out on Blu in France, but why not North America, UK or Australia by now? Way overdue.

I think it's a bit too trashy/campy for their tastes.

Nice avatar! "One Million" is most certainly a Harryhausen movie, and I too would love to see it released on Blu-Ray. In my earlier post I only listed the remaining films yet to make it to Blu-Ray that Sony/Columbia controls, but since TT is also releasing 20th Century Fox films, "One Million" should be included. Let's keep repeating this message to TT at every opportunity!

If they do, we need the full version.

Yes, good special effects, but I like the movie for the compelling dialogue.

While y'all are dreaming of things you'd like to see, looks like "At Long Last Love" has vanished.

Street date was originally April 9th:

"At Long Last Love (1975) Blu-ray - April 9th (NOTE: Not on the TT label, but exclusively handled by TT for Twentieth Century Fox). TT will be handling all production for this Fox title on behalf of the studio, but it will not be a limited edition."

I don't even know what that all means! Should it available at all online retailers?

And, well, where is it?

It's been delayed slightly by a couple weeks. The topic comes up every three pages of this thread or so.
