I never thought of it that way at all. Then again, my memories of the movie go back to being 10 or 11 years old, sitting in a small town theater with my neighborhood friends. Cavemen (and cavewomen) and dinosaurs ... what kid could want more? (well, at least at our age).

I used to be up on this kind of stuff. I know that the current US DVD has been cut down from the original movie's length. I don't remember exactly how significant the cuts are ... or where they happen. A Google search might help.

Perhaps the 1960 version of TheLost World would be too campy but you never know. I know for a fact that they won't be releasing Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. That info came to me from an HTF insider in direct contact with TT. Why Fox would want to release Voyage and not JTTCOTE is beyond me, but I'll never know what the heck goes on behind the scenes at Fox. Perhaps TT thought that the scores for TLW and VTTBOTS weren't worthy of their label. IMO they would be right because the music just plain sucks in both of the movies.

Yes, the US theatrical version was cut down from the original UK version by about 8-9 minutes. Even a bit of Harryhausen animation (part of the giant sea turtle scene) was trimmed! The original US theatrical trailer includes part of Martine Beswick's dance that was cut from the US release, too. The uncut version did show up on US laserdisc, but when Fox released the DVD, they claimed they only had proper materials for the shorter US edit. Personally, I love this film and don't find it campy or trashy at all, although I can see why others may feel that way. Also, Mario Nascimbene's haunting score is easily one of my all-time favorite film scores - so that would make it a perfect match for TT for an isolated score track. Count me in for the other two SINBAD films especially GOLDEN, plus FIRST MEN IN THE MOON, PHANTOM OF THE PARADISE, ROLLERBALL, and ZARDOZ. |

I bought it from Amazon France a couple of months ago, it looks & sounds great & is region free, & the only forced subs are on the (very good) 50min, making of, doc. I bought it from a marketplace seller & it worked out £10 delivered, a LOT cheaper than TT.

I will also continue to request and support TT as long as they continue to port extras from the DVD releases to the Blu Rays, which is what they would need to do for just about every Ray Harryhausen film.
Id love for them to do One Million Years BC uncut. That FOX DVD is worthless, and wound up getting the uncut import DVD ![]() |

Actually, three words: Barbara Eden 'heels'.
...on a submarine, no less. If she didn't get hazard pay, she should have at least received screen credit for her stunt work. I'm not the least bit surprised that TT won't be getting Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, but not because of its score*. Once Fox announced that Fantastic Voyage was on the way for '13, I knew VTTBOTS couldn't be far behind. The studio has always tag-teamed those titles in every other home video format...usually hitting the street same day and date. And both were remastered for the "Fox Cinema Classics" DVD series, so fairly recent HD transfers exist. * Once Frankie Avalon stopped crooning, Paul Sawtell and Bert Shefter's score was very effective for this material. Of interest to soundtrack fans, the limited La-La Land CD also includes alternate under-the-title temp and demo tracks that make Avalon's release version sound like a work of pure genius. |

Experiment in Terror was in my mailbox today. That was quick. The cover art for this Blu-ray is wonderful.
I wonder if World Without End would be a candidate for a Twilight Time release. It's a 1956 movie about these astronauts who land on a post-apocalyptic Earth after a space time warp of sorts and find themselves in the company of some extraordinarily beautiful women in an underground community of survivors. Chaos ensues. Everything about the movie is quite awesome. |

If TT pick up any more Sony titles I'd be pleased to see them issue A Dandy In Aspic. Anthony Mann's final film, finished by star Laurence Harvey. A fine performance from Harvey in an interesting spy film

I think it's something they see as an eventual sellout, which is probably why the did it. It isn't 'scope which is their bread and butter but doesn't jibe with their other non scope releases.

If you have yet to dabble in their CinemaScope releases, there are quite a few gems in there waiting for you. I strongly suggest buying some to support them and indicate to TT that they need to keep up the vintage 'scope releases.
