Ok...maybe that's a bit harsh ![]() But, as far as I'm concerned, Blu-ray was custom made for movies like BYE BYE BIRDIE. When the play was adapted into a movie, several of the staged dance numbers were specifically choreographed to take advantage of the widescreen Panavision (info taken from the insert on the elderly DVD). It's splashy, bold, colorful, widescreen action. |

The ending had to be the way it was because evil people had to be punished by the end of the movie. Justice had to be served. That's the way it was with a lot of major studio movies of the era (partially due to the Hayes Code), and Leave Her to Heaven is hardly the only movie of that era to have an ending abruptly at odds with the flow of the entire rest of the movie. The Women, for example, also has IMHO a discordant ending -- couldn't have those women be divorced AND happy, now could we?

This past weekend TT mentioned an announcement would be coming soon. Prior to that, at the beginning of the month, they stated the following for the delay:

The China Syndrome
Golden Voyage of Sinbad Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger At least a couple of years ago these were three potential titles they were considering. And yes Bye Bye Birdie is a winner. The colors and soundtrack are stunning. It shines with energy!!! |

I mentioned The China Syndrome on another message board, and someone countered that this film has no music score, which would seemingly eliminate it as an option for TT as their Isolated Score's are a key aspect of their release strategy.

Not all of their titles have isolated scores, plus it's also a possibility (albeit very, very remote) that they could put Michael Small's understandably unused score on an isolated track the way Jerry Fielding's unused score was put on The Getaway Bluray.
