I could see them putting it out with the unused score if they can do it because it was released on CD a few years back.

The Women, for example, also has IMHO a discordant ending -- couldn't have those women be divorced AND happy, now could we?
I never interpreted the movie as
[Show spoiler]saying that Ellen was evil but more that she was a strong woman who was living in a society that offered no satisfactory outlet for her. When women then were for marrying and breeding she was never able to find her equal in a man and she finds it completely diminishing when she takes on her second womanly role as a mother. If Ellen was living in a society where she could have pursued something that would have been more personally fulfilling in her life she would not have reached the point where she violently reacts against her oppression. By this I mean that a woman has the right to a social role other than marriage and a right of control over her body in choosing abortion and that both of these things are denied to Ellen.

At least a couple of years ago these were three potential titles they were considering.

And yes Bye Bye Birdie is a winner. The colors and soundtrack are stunning. It shines with energy!!!
China Syndrome is coming from Sony Germany this summer. Almost certainly region free and English friendly given its Sony back catalogue. Will be no isolated score but probably around half the price of any future TT release.

Have there been any comparisons of these EU releases ( As Good As it Gets, Blue Lagoon...) vs the TT counterparts, I know there was one for the Egyptian.

Caps-a-holic has a comparison for AGAIT. The PQ appears to be virtually identical to the TT release and has a multitude of audio tracks and subtitles sans IST of course.

This raises the question. If TT is no longer exclusive distributor of Sony titles, why do we need them at these crazy prices. Sounds like they need to lower their prices to match what is available out there. What do you think? At least Olive prices are around $19.99 online and they truly have exclusive titles

TT has exclusive distribution rights in North America for three years. For whatever reason, Sony has essentially all but abandoned distributing their catalog titles in the U.S., but seems more willing to release them in Europe. North America gets 3000 copies of each title for a three year window, and no guarantee anyone, not even Sony, will release them here after that exlusive period has passed. It is what it is. TT's business model artificially restricts supply for their titles. You therefore pay the price they set or you don't, end of story.

Olive has no limit of 3000. And BTW, if it weren't for discounters like ImportCDs, you'd be paying nearly the same price for an Olive title as for a TT title. Amazon rarely gives much of a break on Olive prices, and the only brick and mortar I have ever seen carry some Olive titles is Barnes and Noble.

There is 2 stores here in Canada that carry a small selection of Olive titles, and they are usually $24.99 to $28.99, and lately amazon.ca is charging more.

Yes, and they are all BD25, with a 16bit codec for the sound, no subtitles and no extras.

That's why I never bought any bluray from them.

Cool And Speaking of Twilight Time

Does anyone have any additional news about the Twilight Time via Screen Archives release of AT LONG LAST LOVE? Last report on the Blu-ray was around March 22nd stating it was delayed and a few weeks from a pre-order date. I e-mailed Screen Archives mentioning that Blu-ray cover art and a sale was posted on eBay. Their response (paraphrasing here) was that whatever was posted on eBay was incorrect and they were waiting for a sign-off (not sure who would be signing off) and to keep watching for an update. I love the film (it's not a guilty pleasure for me) and I'm hoping that "waiting for a sign-off" doesn't mean it is not coming out. Thanks for whatever news (and hope) anyone might be able to provide.

Image Entertainment has the US rights to The China Syndrome, and they told me that there are no plans on the schedule for a BD of The China Syndrome.

Luckily, it's available elsewhere, so..import!
