Indeed. Ray had no peers. He stood head and shoulders above everyone else. Maybe someday more of his films will be released on Blu-ray so my children can share them with their children as I did with my children.

They could do the other Sinbad movies but the DVDs are loaded with Extras...and even though TT has gotten the same extras for a handful of titles..the Sinbad ones are loaded up ...

It is most gratifying to see this outpouring of both heartfelt sadness and unbridled admiration for this wonderful man. I am one of those life-long fans who sat in the Linda Vista theater in San Diego back in 1959 as a child, and marveled as the cyclops thundered onto the screen and changed my life. Mr. Harryhausen had recently completed audio commentary on all of his films. This is huge, and will provide a lasting legacy not only celebrating his incredible craft, but also a nod to those unsurpassed present day talents who have been so indelibly influenced by Mr. Harryhausen's brilliance. I speak of such auteurs as Peter Jackson, Steven Spielberg, Jim Cameron, and countless others. Now is most certainly the time for the studios controlling the remainder of Mr. Harryhausen's films to step up to the plate and release these seminal works. I have no doubt that Twilight Time, having access to such Columbia/Sony and Twentieth Century Fox films as "Golden Voyage of Sinbad," "First Men "IN" the Moon," "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger" "The Three Worlds of Gulliver" and "One Million Years B.C." will slowly, but eventually, get around to releasing these titles in Blu-Ray. While Mr. Harryhausen still lived, they appeared to be in no hurry, and content to release innumerable numbers of B list drivel sparked on rare occasion by a gem here and there. Warner Brothers controls the remaining cannon of Mr. Harryhausen's work, but seem to be oblivious regarding the treasures they possess, or hopefully, do have some hidden agenda regarding the future availability of these films. I speak now of "Mighty Joe Young," "Beast From Twenty Thousand Fathoms" and "Valley of Gwangi." Lend your voices to this cause, and let these Blu-Ray distributors know how important these films are for so many lovers of fantasy/adventure films. We owe this to Mr. Harryhausen, for all he has accomplished and all he has influenced. Few today understand or appreciate that when we marvel at today's fantasy/adventure epics, there is a direct and irrefutable linkage to the genre defining works of Mr. Ray Harryhausen. Let's honor that incredible legacy now, with the reverence it so richly deserves! Twilight Time, now as never before, its TRIBUTE TIME!

If the masters are ready and available, releasing those titles would be a huge coup for TT. I'll wager that they would all be quick sell outs.

One thing those watching today's films don't quite grasp: for what is seen on-screen for recent fantasy/adventure films, there are - on average - 7-10 minutes of credits now at the end of a film detailing the hundreds of people involved in making what ended up on the screen.

For any film of his? One name: Ray Harryhausen. The special effects (with the exception of Bubo and Pegasus) were all done by just this one incredibly gifted man who had a marvelous imagination and the talent to back it up.

I still have vivid memories of the strange and terrifying dreams I had as a child after seeing my first Ray Harryhausen film on TV (Seventh Voyage of Sinbad). I was fortunate to be able to meet Mr. Harryhausen a few years ago at San Diego Comic-Con and related this to him, and being the gentleman he was, he apologized as he never intended to frighten children with his films. I reassured him that it was okay, as Seventh Voyage was the earliest film I could recall that lit a fire in my imagination that continues to this day. I found it a bit depressing that day at SDCC that reality TV "celebrities" had autograph lines 100 people long, but I never saw more than a handful at Ray's table, but it was good for me as I was able to chat for a few minutes with someone I admired so much.

R.I.P. Ray Harryhausen. You will be missed, but not forgotten.

How precious is that!!! I would have felt like I was in heaven if I could have had the chance to talk Ray Harryhausen's ear off, and more importantly listen to all the stories he must have had to tell. I've read many times what a pleasant man Mr. Harryhausen was. To meet and talk to the man who I've heard is considered a god by many in the special effects world ... WOW ... how special!!!

I just watched One Million Years BC (never seen it before) and it's shocking how good the dinosaur effects are. Stop motion jerkiness aside, they're astonishing for 1966 - even more so that they're all done by Harryhausen, not teams of CGI monkeys with a render farm.

I've never been to a Comic-Con "gathering" before so I can't really be sure of what kind of crowd it draws, but to be within eye-shot of one of the most important people/pioneers in special effects/movie history and not be aware of it or take advantage of the opportunity, is just travesty to me ... probably travesty on more levels than one.

EDIT: My apologies if this doesn't belong in the TT thread ... but I needed to let that out.

Plus, they confirmed "Sun Valley Serenade" as upcoming release.

Are the pre-orders for the June titles next Friday?

I think it would be helpful if OP put the pre-order dates, as well as changed "The Driver" release date.

uhh the problem is that TT hasn't even posted when the pre-orders are. For whatever reason they like to keep those dates a secret until the last moment it seems. I just looked on their Fakebook account and see no pre-order dates given at this time.
btw: they used to be very consistent about the middle of the month Friday, but they have varied the dates just enough over the past few months that I can't be totally sure which Friday it will be anymore.
