Of what's on their release schedule, the only title that I would be worried that it may sell out fast is Body Double, and even if that did happen it wouldn't be Christine fast.

It probably won't sell out for a while.

That's probably true, but it's the only one out of Leave Her to Heaven, Hard Times, The Driver, Sexy Beast, Sleepless in Seattle, Philadelphia, that I could see possibly selling out quick, and by quick I mean within a month or two of being released.

So nobody thinks Hard Times would be a quick seller?
Because I would prefer to wait for The Driver to be up on pre-order too... just to combine shipping...

I don't think it will be a quick seller, you should be safe waiting.

I'm for sure buying Body Double, but I've been itching to pick up Steel Magnolias as well. I'm not really worried about it selling out or anything, but I think I might wait until the Body Double pre-order goes up to combine shipping and save a couple of bucks. But there's a part of me that wants it now!

Maybe I'll wait a month and order it with Sleepless In Seattle. Wasn't going to bother upgrading that one, but I do really like the film.

Decisions...

It appears that At Long Last Love is off the table for Twilight Time?

TT was suppose to handle the release but it wasn't going to be a limited edition. Therefore, it's still possible TT is handling the release but the title is just being distributed through larger channels than SAE.

I pre-ordered, for import to the US, Philadelphia and Sleepless in Seattle from http://www.jbhifi.com.au in Australia for under $40 for both shipped. The are having a 20% off sale that ends Sunday if anyone is interested. It sure beats TT's prices. I was also able to get Quiz Show as well. It came to about $50 shipped for all three.

It's irrelevant for "Philadelphia" because I already ordered the TT version, but out of curiousity are the AU versions region free? I wouldn't mind getting "Sleepless in Seattle" from them if they are.

That's my plan, too...there's a lot I want to order from JB (have ordered a few times before and have had good experiences). I mistakenly thought the sale was through Sunday, but it was through Saturday....but they do those fairly often, so will get them next time. Hopefully they will be region free...

Lightbulb The Only Game In Town...

Since I haven't seen either of these posted yet:

Although I'm looking forward to both TT releases next month, this one has me particularly intrigued. Frankly, what's driving that is mostly plain ole film geek curiosity...TOGIT came and went so quickly theatrically, and has been virtually non-existent on home video. I've never heard Jarre's score...and can't even find decent samples from it. What we have here is compound MIA status: Lost Stevens. Lost Taylor. Lost Beatty. Lost Jarre. The early 70s don't get much more obscure than this!

I guess I shouldn't be terribly surprised that no one else has even posted the covers. But to me this is exactly the kind of "who else would even bother doing it?" kind of title that TT has lovingly rescued from obscurity before. I just hope they find enough diehard film esoterica buffs to justify this run.

Some interesting bits of background trivia from Wikipedia:
Quote:
Frank Sinatra originally signed to play Joe, but when Taylor became ill and filming was postponed, he had to drop out of the project to fulfill another commitment and was replaced by Beatty."
Plus, the apparent existence a 'loosely adapted' remake:
Quote:
"Director Curtis Hanson did a reworking of this film with his film Lucky You (2007), which dealt with a professional gambler out to break the bank in Las Vegas. The reworking was in the adding of a female singer and the gambler's father entering a Vegas gambling convention where the story is set. The film starred Eric Bana, Drew Barrymore and Robert Duvall."
That one is an equal mystery to me...anyone seen it?

If you want to sample The Only Game In Town the whole movie is up on Youtube.

It went into obscurity because it, frankly, is not so great. They would have been better off releasing any of the other under appreciated but excellent Taylor movies from around this time. X, Y & Z/Ash Wednesday/Secret Ceremony... BOOM! would have been a phenomenal release.

Where's the shipping notice for "Philadelphia"?

Used to be, I'd have a preorder like this in my mailbox today?

Seems like they won't start the shipping process until tomorrow at the earliest.

isn't One Million Years BC a Warner Bros. release? I'd love a bluray edition of this. From my understanding of the video release of this, the UK DVD is the longest cut of the film while the US prints were cut.

I did a search on Amazon's UK website. It looks like it comes in 2 different UK DVD versions (both PAL format) ... a 2002 widescreen version from Warner Home Video that runs 88 minutes ... and a 2006 fullscreen version from Optimum Home Entertainment that runs 96 minutes.

Warner UK version:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/One-Million-...+years+bc+1966

Optimum UK version:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/One-Million-...+years+bc+1966

It seems odd to me that the newer version isn't widescreen. ???

EDIT: For what it's worth, the US DVD is listed as being from 20th Century Fox with a running time of 91 minutes:
http://www.amazon.com/Million-Years-...+years+bc+1966

It sure would be nice to get a complete, definitive version of this on bluray!
