Rapture is a wonderful film - deeply moving, visually gorgeous and directed with genuine sensitivity. Of course, what else would you expect from the future auteur of King Kong Lives and Shaft in Africa? Seriously though, it's a real gem.

Fan of Bruce Campbell yet did not know about this film. Looks interesting.

Rapture is a masterpiece. I had a sixth sense feeling that the movie would be right up my alley when it was brought to my attention on this forum, and I am so glad that I made the blind buy purchase. I need to write a couple words in the user review section soon.

Welp, I placed another order for Rapture, The Song of Bernadette, and The Wayward Bus.

Looking forward to checking them out.

I saw that you went ahead and ordered Rapture. Just wanted to add my voice to those whom thought Rapture was a masterpiece.

The Only Game in Town really surprised me SolidBlu. Although I was always curious about this legendary all-star flop, its razzie-class rep had steeled me for the worst possible result here...an indifferent, legacy transfer of a movie so risible that the studio couldn't even be bothered remastering it for DVD. Admittedly, the creative and production missteps were inescapable; this is not a perfect movie by any stretch. But I certainly enjoyed spending a couple of hours with these charmingly eccentric head cases. Bonus for me: a never before heard Jarre score, which I'm sure I'll enjoy isolated.

But the reel surprise here was the transfer. While I realize this film has had minimal wear and tear over the years - for most of its life consigned to the vault and all but ignored - the quality of this Blu-ray master was a little startling just the same. With so many low lit interiors and exteriors I wasn't expecting this disc to look quite so snappy. And it did - grain where grain would have occurred naturally from late 60s/early 70s available light location shooting - with that familiar studio glamour patina as they pushed in for the medium shots and close-ups. With all the shallow focus red-on-red shots in this picture, it could have looked spectacularly awful, but never did:

So an all-round unexpected treat. I'm glad TT chose to give a safe home to this lost little cinematic orphan. Just one of those flawed but interesting curiosities that manages to work despite itself. And after all the bitter ragging on the poor thing over the years..."Whodathunk?"

That's a good list! I would love Cutter's Way. I'd like Irma La Douce and How to Succeed in Business without Really trying also.

The ABC titles MGM distributes. They all need new transfers because I believe none of them are Anamorphic. Silkwood and The Flamingo Kid are others.

Isn't Ghost World a future Criterion? Or was that just speculation.

How bout some Peckinpah action in the form of Junior Bonner and Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia?

Seconds to Cutter's Way and The Long Goodbye. That catalog is ripe for some choice releases from some third party company - would love for Criterion to get their hands on Lenny.

I think The Long Goodbye is going to be Criterion. Also, Burn!, The King of Hearts, The French Lts. Woman, My Beautiful Laundrette, Red River and Thief.

Great news - have heard the rumors of that, but didn't wanna get my hopes up too much. More Criterion Altman would be a nice thing - have high hopes a nice edition of Nashville (with the long rumored deleted scenes) will appear someday.

There's also a rumor, though not a big one that maybe, just maybe Criterion has Bring Me The Head Of Alfredo Garcia.
