![]() So it's hard for me to pick just one. And it's very subjective. I mean, I was equally impressed by 'Renoir in America' (aka Swamp Water) in terms of both filmmaking craft and video production quality. My hypothetical short list would also include a half dozen other very good to excellent pictures treated with exceptional care and respect via this label...including Curtiz' epic noir, The Egyptian, Lang's classic noir tragedy The Big Heat, Edwards' 'onion-peel' psychological thriller Experiment in Terror, and the just released (and previously underappreciated) Walter Hill gem Hard Times. Heck, I'm still ga-ga what Grover Crisp and his crackerjack Sony team did with Harryhausen's Mysterious Island after 35 years of never-being-quite-right on home video. In just 3 short years, TT has already covered such an eclectic swath of cinematic turf - and almost uniformly very well. There's something in that library for everyone's tastes... D'oh. Corrected.
![]() FWIW, I just finished watching Alain Resnais' Night and Fog on DVD as a ramp-up to Criterion's recent Blu-ray release of Shoah. |

The Southerner isn't as good as Swamp Water, but still worth seeing. I still haven't gotten around to either Diary of a Chambermaid or Woman on the Beach - really no excuse in the latter case, as it stars two of my all-time favorite actors, Robert Ryan and Joan Bennett. One of the few noirs I haven't viewed.

Has anyone had an item ship over the weekend from Screen Archives? I ordered 'Leave Her To Heaven' on Blu from TT 2 days ago ( well, Thursday morning) and the payment has showed up in my bank account but Order Status says 'Pending' on Screen Archives site.
![]() Maybe I'm just being impatient. |
