They could do a MOD for a blu-ray using a BD-R, I'm just not sure about the long term longevity of BD-R discs.

I for one hope the studios embrace MOD for blu-ray if that is the only way to get more classic films released.
btw: if you sign up for Warner Archive emails you will get sales offers, and a few times a year they offer a sale where you can get 5 titles for $50.
I have bought all my Warner Archive titles through these sales, and love having the lesser known Bogart, Grant, Cagney, Robinson, and Peck titles they have offered.

That title appears to be currently on sale during WB's Leap Year Sale. It is currently reduced to $14.95 but during checkout it gets reduced further to $13.45 plus free shipping. The second reduction is probably the 10% WB Insider club discount however you can join that club for free.

EDIT: Yep, the additional 10% discount is "10% off Warner Archive for WB Insider Rewards members."

I've got my fingers crossed that we'll get at least some of those.
Nice list! (I forgot all about Silver Streak). I requested "One Million Years B.C." on TT's Facebook page also ... and any/all of the Beatle movies, although I'm not sure if any of those are possible ... because I don't fully understand what is off-limits. Just trying to get word out for some favorites that might have been forgotten.

Regarding the list that gpn posted, Ladyhawke is a Warner Bros. title in the US. I do hope it gets a blu-ray release, though!

Canada Prince of Players???

Since I first heard Bernard Herrmann's score for for Prince of Players, I've really wanted to see this movie...

Even as a kid, I don't recall it playing on TV. No *legit* DVD either. Not even a VHS release as far as I can tell. Anyone know the backstory on this 'lost' Fox 2.55:1 CinemaScope title?

Canada Artwork for April...

EDIT: D'oh. Should have known you'd be on it HyperRealist...

Caught this little sidebar comment from TT: "And yes, we'd like to do the '73 Lost Horizon, too!"

I know it's Paramount, but does anyone else want Waterloo with Rod Steiger and Christopher Plummer? I know I do.

I'm not really a fan of Bell, Book and Candle--but that cover art is hideous. Couldn't they use the same cover as the dvd:

I like the cover they've used for Bell Book and Candle. Both films are a purchase for me.

I always liked Waterloo due to Plummer's performance. Definitely an underrated film.

I also think the cover for Bell.... looks great. It plays directly on a scene in the film. very nice.
I still can't believe it is coming to bd.
amazing.

I'd be in for that HD Goofnut. Assuming good elements have survived...Waterloo was an expensive flop, although that's no reflection on the quality of Bondarchuk's film. Paramount's Olive Films subsidiary would be your best bet for some fan lobbying over that one. I mean, they are doing 1900, so Waterloo wouldn't be such a stretch.

Yeah, it's a kicker. First thing I noticed about the promo for next month. It just popped off the screen. Both are beauties, but for quite different reasons.

Agreed. I also read somewhere (on these boards I think) that Cameron still isn't happy with the aspect ratio of The Abyss. He fudged it to around 2.0:1 (or just under) for the first Laserdisc, then went all the way out to 2.40:1 for the DVD release, but now wants to pull it back again (to 2.21:1? For a possible 3D retrofit/IMAX re-release?).

Who knows what motivates this guy...the important thing to understand is exactly what you said: "Fox would never think of doing anything with that movie without Cameron's approval."

You actually prefer that cut and paste job from the DVD?

Different strokes, I guess. But strong disagreement from me.

Yep, I'll take Kim Novak and Jimmy Stewart's lovable mug over this abomination any day--which looks like it was submitted by a 10 year old:
