I'm hearing a lot of peripheral talk around the campfire about Krull being released as a Twilight Time title someday. Is there any additional clarification on this?

Krull came out during the summer between my fifth and sixth grade years in elementary school. I had the Marvel comic book based on the movie and the tie-in novelization by Alan Dean Foster. Sadly, I never did have a plastic toy Glaive, so I failed miserably at being an 11 year-old Krull über fan, but, believe me, I wanted to have one. I'm holding tightly to my Special Edition DVD right now, but I'll camp out to be the first in line for a Twilight Time preorder if that happens.

The PQ was great over 4 out of 5 - the film didnt click with me. It had the right pacing/atmosphere but I found it to be rather dull in some stretches.

The ending came out of nowhere which was enjoyable. Some mild gore and a nice nude love making scene.

No lump of coal in my stocking this Christmas...the remaining 2 Harryhausen Sinbad flicks, plus an inspired oddity like Royal Flash, directed by Richard Lester and lensed by the late great Geoffrey Unsworth, with Ken Thorne adapted music.

I'm just curious what you do in a situation like this wherein you (blind?) buy a BD for more than average cost and you ended up, it sounds like, being less-than-impressed with the film and unlikely to watch it again. Will you keep it anyway? Trade it?

Im weighing my options..all leading to trying to get some money back and buy something else !
At least the Sinbad films wouldnt be blind buys...
I honestly thought the Disappearance would click with me based on everything I read about it. I did give it some thought before the blind buy.
Usually the only movies I blind buy are the Warner Archive titles and Im not even doing that anymore unless its some kind of sale or a horror movie

I saw this in the other thread too. I have the TT Blue Lagoon, and it is indeed a gorgeous transfer that was worth every penny. I have to ask though, where did you get those other screencaps? Are you sure they weren't DVD screencaps that were mislabeled? Not only does it (obviously) look atrocious, but the framing seems completely bizarre and off, and the 1.33 pieces do not have black filling them out to 1.78 like would be on a Blu-Ray. The film caps themselves seem to come from a fullscreen release of the film. Something seems off here.

Not to mention that TT does not do a thing with the transfers. The transfer in this case would actually come from Sony...

The caps are comparing the extras. The extras on the Sony blu ray are 480i 29.970 4:3 while the extras on the TT blu ray are 1080p 23.976 16:9. It's a huge difference in quality and the Sony blu ray doesn't have all the extras on the TT blu ray.

That's true, but that doesn't mean that Sony couldn't have used and older transfer for one release and a newer transfer for another.

Oh I see, I missed that the beginning film shots were from the trailer and not the film.

Speaking only for myself, Harryhausen's last 3 films rarely have the magic any of his prior movies do for me. And I'm a pretty big fan, having bought the amazing 3 volume "Master Of The Majicks" books covering his career. I still have yet to buy Clash Of The Titans (I eventually will) and will get these two Sinbad films as a completest. I watched them both a few months ago when shown on Sony's HD channel after Harryhausen's passing and remembered that aside from his effects work, the movies (especially Eye Of The Tiger) lack the charm of his previous films right up to "Valley Of Gwangi."

So this will leave "First Men In The Moon" which from all accounts will see a Sony/Twilight Time issue in mid 2014 which means an isolated music track which I'm stoked for and finally Gwangi and Beast From 20,000 Fathoms (which has been shown in HD recently) both from Warner Bros and lastly One Million Years BC from Fox which has had a somewhat screwed up release history on dvd (it was missing a few short bits for the US release) since Fox did a "restoration" on it over 10 years ago.
